So my friend and me play a good twenty levels (on the hard) or so when it becomes more and more difficult to beat them as we’re going along and it’s evident we may need to go back and replay a few levels to get our health up and may find some more weapons. The game’s story is there is an Earth invasion of giant bugs and robots and they come in the thousands. You are armed with a crappy gun to start and can pick up swag along the way. If you pick up a weapon box from some dead ant, spider, or mother ship you have to complete the level for it to save in your arsenal. Certain levels reap different weapons as we found out and some are only given at the completion of the game on specific levels.
On the start of each level you have access to all of you weapons and can hold two of them on each mission.
So even though I played on hard at first there is incentive to play the harder difficulty to get a strong weapon to finish the game on a lower level. You also get points for each of the difficulties and can toggle between them to get your attributes up to be able to take more of a hit. The end on the highest difficulty is insanely difficult but the reward is worth it.
Speaking of weapons there are missile launchers (good for mother ships and bulks of insects), turrets(good for flying robots and spiders), sniper rifles(good for giant Giant spiders and robots), acid and flame weapons(good for insects in tunnels), and bombs(good for anything coming to a location). There is a strategy with each level that I would not have figured being there but it is, an arcade onion full of layers. The game is a must buy.
Coop is a must as you have to save each other from onslaughts and time your reloads. There are level where one person has to do one thing like take out the mother ships while the other lays turrets to cover your rear. You have to load out weapons as a group or you wont make it out alive on some levels. All in all there at 52 levels if memory serves and after playing them on each difficulty and a lot of time more than once it tallied about 76 hours of gameplay I believe.
