Discuss This Game

Rating: 3.4/5 (43 votes cast)

Number of Players: 2 players are available for co-op play in this game. This is the highest maximum number available for a specific mode. See chart for details.

Online Co-Op: Co-Op Play is available over the internet or an online service like Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network. Each player needs their own system, game, and internet connection.

Couch Co-Op: Couch or Local Co-Op allows players to use one copy of the game with multiple controllers to play co-op. This includes both split screen play and same screen play. Couches are not required.

Drop-In/Drop-Out: Players can join or leave a cooperative game session at anytime without disrupting an existing player's game.

The Co-Op Experience: Bring a buddy along as a henchmen through the single player story. Experience and gold earned as a henchmen will carry over to your own single player game.
The host player is able to set how much gold and renown their henchmen gets.
The unique aspect of the online mode is it displays orbs floating around your world that represent exactly where your friends are in the game that are currently playing. Simply walk up to an orb and invite a friend in, in a completely seamless experience.

Set 500 years after the original game, Fable 2 offers even more choices and features, while building on the core gameplay theme of Fable where every choice continually defines who you become, allowing you to truly live the life you choose.

I cannot recommend this game as one to pick up for co-op, though the single player experience is great. As others have noted, co-op is a big disappointment. You can't use your own character when you join someone else's game. The camera controls in co-op are just horrible, bad enough to make it easy to overlook chests and struggle to find the enemy you want to target. The camera actually bugged me much more than having to play as a henchmen. It should be a basic developer mantra: Gamers should never have to fight the camera. There are few games where co-op actually makes for a poorer experience, but this is one of them.

I agree. I think the game is awesome, except when it comes to the Co-op :( VERY disappointed in that. Its not fun, and its not fair to the 2nd player.

this game is good for single player but for co op it is straight trash. i dont know about everyone else but im getting sick of games that have no system link or good co op added and this game should diffently let both player one and two make there own characters and system link or local co op there characters together to make a fun environment for both players and not one this goes for all one player games start using for mind game creaters.

I'm on the fence for this one. The RPG aspect is decent, though money is way off balance. It's quite easy to make it, so you can buy most anything you want in the game. Generic weapons but really good magic or "will" makes fighting decent. Simple controls, beautiful graphics, modest load times between areas all add up to more fun than most titles.

Main beef: As of now (December 2008), the co-op is horrible. The second player is only a generic henchman, not your own character brought into your buddy's game. Additionally, you share a screen! Makes it quite difficult to quest efficiently.

Technically there is splitscreen, although the screen does not split. Splitscreen implies that two people are playing on the same Xbox 360. Fable 2 can have two people play co-op on the same Xbox 360. LAN/System link is correct, though, and has no reason to, since you can play on the same 360!

Just thought I would clarify for the sake of clarity.
