Online Co-Op: Co-Op Play is available over the internet or an online service like Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network. Each player needs their own system, game, and internet connection.

Couch Co-Op: Couch or Local Co-Op allows players to use one copy of the game with multiple controllers to play co-op. This includes both split screen play and same screen play. Couches are not required.

SplitScreen: The TV is split into multiple screens so each co-op player gets their own viewpoint. The screen could be split vertically or horizontally.

LAN or Systemlink: Co-Op Play is available over a Local Network or System Link Connection. Most likely a router will be required, but you may use a crossover cable in some cases.

Drop-In/Drop-Out: Players can join or leave a cooperative game session at anytime without disrupting an existing player's game.

The co-op mode allows you to play through the story part of the game with a friend.

The online co-op is more challenge based.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the next installment in the Smash Bros. series for the company's Wii console. Among the new characters playable in the game are Meta Knight, the sword-wielding nemesis of Kirby; Pit, the angelic archer from Kid Icarus; Zero Suit Samus, the powerful Metroid series heroine minus her versatile armor; and Wario, who demonstrates a noxious attack of gastronomic proportions. Just a great game all around. With all the unlockables, great co-op play and awesome level variations this is easily one of the better "sequel"/fighting games out there.

A lot of fun.

The game is first and foremost a multiplayer Brawler, you will be fighting against your friends rather than with them in the versus mode (the real focus of the game). That being said, the Subspace Emissary Mode (the adventure/story/campaign) is rather interesting. It consists of side scroller type advancement with Smash Bros. type action used to take out foes. Both players work to reach the end of the levels unharmed, and players can 'customize' their favorite character's stats using stickers found through out the story. This story mode isn't terribly long unfortunately, and the other coop modes (record setting and events) take 3 hours tops to beat.
