The Japanese arcade hit Ikaruga comes to Xbox LIVE® Arcade! Treasure's award-winning scrolling shooter brings a tactical twist to the genre with its yin-and-yang gameplay: the color of your ship determines your effect on enemies. In this polarized system, enemy ships and their bullets are one of two colors. Attack an enemy of the opposite color for extra damage. Absorb enemy fire of the same color as your ship, and use the energy for a special attack. Destroy multiple enemies of the same color to score a chaining bonus. Play solo or cooperatively, and use your polarity to achieve victory! [Xbox.com]

I got burned out on all the current gen games so I started to play some shmups. Well, I researched this game and it is arguably in the top 3 shoot em ups in history. The fact that this is only $10 and is available on XBLA (prior versions were on gamecube and dreamcast I believe) and was remade in such high quality makes this one a no brainer. The concept is there is a light and dark polarity and depending on which one you choose for your ship determines whether you will absorb light and dark attacks or get killed by them. Really simple but adds immense strategy. Graphically, is probably one of the best looking I've seen. Controls are great. No cons except this game will own you. It is tough. If you have any desire to beat this game, you will have to invest hours upon hours playing it because the game gives you additional continues the more you play. BORDERLANDS! Hopefully finish my first playthrough! I'm on "The Final Piece" but I'll probably do side quests as well.
Did they make a remake on Gameboy Advance or something? I remember the name.
