Insurgency: Sandstorm Has a PC Release Window, No Campaign

Back in January, the creative director, Andrew Spearin, left New World "to pursue other opportunities." As a result, the development team has had to do some shifting around and nix the single-player and cooperative story campaigns, and focus solely on the multiplayer modes and one co-op mode. It's this last point that the upcoming Insurgency: Sandstorm seems to really want its players to experience. Bold strategy, right? Well, based on this teaser trailer, they may very well be able to pull it off.

Enhanced Version of Insurgency Headed to PC and Consoles

Moving away from Source, the revamped version of the game will be rebuilt using Unreal Engine 4 and will include, in addition to some graphical overhauls, a new story mode that starts during the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and concludes in the present day. The co-op modes and multiplayer modes of the original will return, and the developer is apparently working on building in some form of "eSports framework" into the game.
