Can you believe it's been ten years? The Co-Optimus team has raised $19,586.75 since we joined Extra Life back in 2012, and we couldn't have done it without our community. Thank you to everyone who has donated, participated, cheered us on, or spread the word! The generosity of the Co-Optimus community and their network of friends and family is astounding.
In case you're wondering what Extra Life is all about, let me explain. Extra Life is a charity started by gamers that benefits Children's Miracle Network Hospitals all across North America. Visit their site and they'll probably locate a hospital in your area. Within the walls of these hospitals are the best doctors, nurses, and other medical experts performing what my simple brain can only describe as miracles. They're helping kids survive the worst birth defects, cancers, injuries, premature birth, and other ailments. They're not miracles, of course, but it takes a lot of medical science and experts to care for these little ones, and that doesn't come cheap.
That's where you come in. Your donations to Extra Life help pay for the experts, equipment, research, and operating expenses of these hospitals. They also pay the bills and traveling expenses of families who can't afford to pay their child's medical bills. As someone who's children have incurred massive bills at one of these hospitals, I can't tell you how much of a relief it is to hear that you don't owe a penny for the services they provide. It doesn't make your child's situation any less scary, but it's one less thing parents need to worry about during a very difficult time.
Ok, I'll stop with the tear-jerking and get to the point. You can help in no less than three ways:

- Spread the word! Share this post on your social networks or write your own post about how the Co-Optimus team and Extra Life are saving the lives of kids!
Now the fun part. Regardless of how you contribute, we welcome you to our game day celebration on November 6th. We'll be streaming co-op games on Twitch as long as we can stay awake and will gladly invite you to our game if we have room. We'll also be hanging out in our Discord channel where you can meet and play with other fans of co-op games. If you donate or join the team, be sure to let me know what your Discord user ID is so I can add you to the appropriate Extra Life group.
