A new Gears of War game was heavily rumored to be revealed at this year's Xbox Games Showcase, and that's just what we got. Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel that allows players to take control of Marcus Fenix, the original Gears series protagonist, as he endures the series' famous Emergence Day event. We don't have any gameplay details yet, but E-Day is likely to feature campaign co-op and a cooperative Horde mode.
The reveal trailer shows a young Marcus Fenix as he gets attacked by a Locust drone. We don't want to spoil anything, but it's likely that Marcus pulls through this attack. Marcus also encounters his buddy, Dom, who will surely have a long and happy life ahead of him. The Gears of War series isn't mopey at all, after all. In all seriousness, the serious is famous for its approachable third-person shooter action and excellent co-op features, so we're excited for E-Day.
