Possibly the most ambitious TMNT game this year, Mutants Unleashed will feature a new story based on the most recent film, lots of fresh mutants to battle, and 2-player local co-op. The game certainly has things in common with Cult of the Lamb, the popular cult game that recently gained co-op via an update. The popular Funko Pops toyline finally has a full game to call its own. Funko Fusion, from 10:10 Games and Skybound Games, has arrived on consoles and Steam. The third-person action game features over 60 playable Funko Pop characters and levels taken from more than 20 franchises. Surprisingly, however, the co-op multiplayer that was promised back in May is nowhere to be seen. As it turns out, co-op will arrive in November through an update.

A year ago, Forever Entertainment announced Night Slashers: Remake, a modern remake of the classic Data East arcade beat 'em up. The remake will feature updated 2D visuals, a new playable character, and 4-player local co-op. The wait will soon be over because Night Slashers: Remake is due on consoles and Steam on September 26.

Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been a long time coming - the first game debuted over 10 years ago! When Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate arrived on Switch last month, we were seriously impressed by the game. Super Evil Megacorp has created an exciting and addictive roguelite featuring everyone's favorite teenage turtles. Splintered Fate features 4-player local and online co-op, but there's a catch: it has no matchmaking! That makes it tough to find people to splinter your fate with. Thankfully, the developer recently released a roadmap that promises matchmaking and more cool features for the future.

Having made a name for itself with the Curious Expedition series, German indie developer Maschinen-Mensch is now at work on an even bigger project called Mother Machine. Hey, that's what their company name means! Anyway, Mother Machine is a promising sci-fi platformer/roguelike in which a team of cutesy critters explores caverns for the sentient machine that created them. It will feature plenty of creative co-op mechanics when it arrives early next year.

Just a few days ago, Activision released the first trailer for the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. That thing was scary! I'm still scared. But I need to get over it, because even more Zombies details have arrived. This year's Zombies mode will feature a Guided mode to help ease players into the always-too-hard co-op mode, an optional third-person camera, and more. We're talking about spooky stuff, but it's cool nonetheless.

Time to Morp from Team Halfbeard and Yogscast Games is a charming colony sim and automation game that's set on an alien planet. The game is still in Steam Early Access, so it has lots of room to grow. It just grew a lot, actually, thanks to the arrival of the "Double the Fun" update. With the addition of the new farming system, abilities, and toys for co-op, the game really has grown a lot since its debut.

Back in 1990, Rainbow Arts released a well-liked shoot 'em up for Commodore 64, Amiga, and other computers called X-Out (pronounced "Crossout"). The game had an underwater theme, an R-Type-like visual style, and a robust in-game shop - but no co-op. That omission will finally be fixed in the upcoming remake, X-Out Resurfaced, from ININ Games, Ziggurat Interactive (which bought Rainbow Arts), and Kritzelkratz 3000. The new game will have 2-player local co-op, and it's coming to all platforms this winter.
