Iím a high school English teacher, writer, and ninja. My co-op gaming life started with the original Double Dragon arcade game in 1987. As I only owned an NES back then, my Sega Master System-owning friend used to get tired of me wanting to play through Double Dragon with him all the time. I still love cooperative beat-em-ups, including Final Fight, Castle Crashers, and Scott Pilgrim. I was once a competitive Saturn Bomberman player, but otherwise I have always been about the co-op.

My first experience with writing about games came in 2003 when I wrote a full walkthrough for Bomberman Land 2, an amazing Japanese Bomberman RPG. Over the next several years, I continued to write FAQs and Achievement guides for various games, culminating in an award-winning Bionic Commando Rearmed guide. I finally joined the gaming press after Windows Phone 7 launched, covering and reviewing games for Microsoftís fledgling mobile platform. Now Iím on the console scene at Co-Optimus, one of the coolest and most unique gaming sites around.

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron's Workshop Bursting onto Steam September 30

Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day famously sang a plea to wake him when September ends. What's so good about the end of September, though? As it turns out, the last day of September will be very good for Bubble Bobble fans this year. That's when Bubble Bobble 4: The Baron's Workshop launches on Steam, complete with the first level editor in the series' history, 200 built-in levels, and 4-player local co-op.

Spelunker HD Co-op Review

Before there was Spelunky, there was a 1980s platformer called Spelunker. The ultra-challenging platformer saw players navigating deadly caves with little chance of survival. That game was remade and expanded as Spelunker HD on PlayStation 3, but it’s not exactly easy (or even possible) to play PS3 games on modern consoles. Hence, ININ and To...

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Co-Op Review

The first Puyo Puyo Tetris cleverly combined two classic falling block puzzle franchises, but it almost stayed in Japan. I wrote an import guide for the Japanese Xbox version! The first game did eventually make it to English markets on some platforms, but not poor Xbox. Thankfully, Sega has seen fit to release Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 in English on ...

Space Invaders Invincible Collection Co-op Review

In 1978, Taito’s Space Invaders took Japanese arcades by storm, becoming one of the highest-grossing arcade games of all time. The game would become a success in international markets as well, going on to spawn numerous revisions and sequels in the early days of arcades. More than 40 years later, Space Invaders still enjoys a loyal following ...

Spelunker HD Deluxe Brings the Challenge on PlayStation and Switch

Classic 8-bit platformer Spelunker was remade and given the co-op treatment as Spelunker HD back in the PlayStation 3 days. Because that version of Spelunker HD can't be played on today's consoles, another remake makes perfect sense. Thus, ININ and Tozai Games have just released Spelunker HD Deluxe on PlayStation 4/5 and Nintendo Switch. Wi...

In late 2020, CD Projekt Red released the long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 to widespread disappointment. Mired by bugs and performance issues, the game simply wasn’t ready. Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron's Workshop Heading to Steam with a Level Editor

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, the latest game in Taito's classic co-op arcade platformer series, released on PlayStation and Switch a while back and later received extra levels with 'The Baron is Back' update. The next logical step for Taito and publisher ININ would seem to be the release of Xbox and PC versions. Sadly, Taito continues to avoid showing Xbox any love, but a Steam version is finally happening. It will be called Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron's Workshop, and it will feature a brand-new level editor.

The 'Left 4 Dead 2' Survivors Are Now Playable in Zombie Army 4

When Rebellion released the free 'Left 4 Dead Character Pack' for Zombie Army 4 in June, we suspected that it was only a matter of time until a character pack with the Left 4 Dead 2 characters followed. That has now come to pass - the new free DLC pack adds the four Left 4 Dead 2 survivors to Zombie Army 4 as playable ch...
