Ubisoft is Remaking Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has thrown up some incredible adventures for players over the years, but some would say that the best of them all came in 2013. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was the sixth main game in Ubisoft’s long-running series, and it’s arguably the most memorable. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title helped to rejuvenate the pirate genre in gaming, which is now booming.

It was recently announced that Ubisoft is in the early stages of remaking the classic title for modern consoles. This is hugely exciting news for players, as the advanced graphics of today’s machines will make it more visually stunning than ever.

Reports Suggest Remake is in Early Stages

According to recent reports, Ubisoft has grand plans for its Assassin’s Creed franchise, with many future games in the pipeline. The project also involves rebooting some classic installments in the series, with Black Flag the first title to get the treatment. There aren’t many details about the project yet, but it seems that Ubisoft Singapore is one of the key studios involved.

Despite going on to become regarded as one of the top entries in the series, Black Flag was released at an awkward time. It was one of the last entries for the third generation of consoles and didn’t make use of the advanced graphics available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One initially. Therefore, a new version for today’s generation of consoles could help to do the game justice and may propel it to becoming recognized as one of the greatest titles of all time.

Black Flag Was Hugely Influential

It’s hard to think of many games that have had as much of an impact on the gaming industry as Black Flag. At the time of its release, there weren’t many swashbuckling offerings for players to choose from. Now, the genre is booming and can be found on almost every platform. It inspired other similar games for consoles like Sea of Thieves and the upcoming Skull & Bones.

There are loads of mobile games that came about in the wake of Black Flag as well. These include titles like Pirate Kings and Plunder Pirates. The online casino industry is arguably one of the best places to find pirate games, which could be popular there because of their strong association with treasure. There are also a host of real money casinos on the market, but the ones with titles that resonate with players, like Pirate Jackpots, Pirate’s Legacy, and Clash of Pirates, will always catch the eye.

The impact of Black Flag wasn’t just seen in the gaming industry. The Starz series, Black Sails, was released the following year and was hugely popular. It may have benefited from the fact that people were hungry for more content on the seven seas at the time.

It may be some time before the Black Flag remake hits shelves, but it is a highly promising piece of news. Not only is it great for people who never got the chance to play the pirate game before, but it also suggests that other iconic Assassin’s Creed titles could get the same treatment.
