In one corner, we have a gritty, brutal sword and sorcery beat 'em up.  In the other, two hyper-adorable reptilian grinners who use bubbles as weapons.  The two games could hardly be more different, yet each was highly successful in arcades and has spawned many follow ups over time.  Check out our two newest video Co-Op Classics: Golden Axe and Bubble Bobble.

There are few co-op franchises as influential and well-remembered as Golden Axe.  Released in 1989, this classic side scrolling brawler was one of the early trend setters in the genre.  Tyris Flare, Ax Battler, and some Dwarf guy teamed up to hunt down Death Adder and his minions.  A smash success, it was followed by tqo sequels, and has been released on a tremendous amount of systems in the past two decades since it first hit the arcades.
