Behemoth's "Game #3" Gets A Name: BattleBlock Theater

News
Twitter facebook googlebuzz

Behemoth has a great record when it comes to co-op games: Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers are each excellent, combining old school gameplay with great design and humor.  We've been watching developments about their next title, known previously as 'Game #3'.  The new name is BattleBlock Theater, and lots of new information about it has hit Behemoth's blog.

Coming to Xbox Live Arcade "sometime in 2010", BattleBlock Theater is the story of a shipwrecked protagonist, who is betrayed and then imprisoned with hundreds of others, forced to perform in deadly dramatic productions.  Sound weird?  Indeed, but it also sounds like lots of fun.  The new BattleBlock Theater FAQ promises co-op, and the new official trailer is certainly worth a look.  Anyone else excited for this one?

Played an early version at PAX; did not "get" it. The demo they had out had you running around and as you ran over blocks they turned your team's color. Team with the most blocks at the end wins. No real hook that I could find, but maybe they're adding the *fun* part later...

I have to admit to being a little hesitant on this one, even coming from Behemoth. The vids and previews just haven't sold me.

But I will give them more credit than any other developer on the XBLA right now, so I'm sure I'll check it out. They are very analogous to the Pixeljunk developers for the PSN to me.

Doesn't look quite appealing to me. Though I hope there is a map creator!

Little disappointed in it... but will give it a chance as the Behemoth haven't let me down yet.

I'm sure there will be more to the game than what we've seen so far, though it does seem to be fairly...mini-gameish.

I never could get into AH on the PC or the console, the game always would piss me off and I would want to break my controller/keyboard, so instead of doing so, I only returned the console rental. Castle Crashers was great tho, and in turn, I will stay tuned to this title.

these guys are one of my favorite developers, but this just looks weird as hell.

not very fun, either.
