Halo Reach Will Have Co-Op Matchmaking

News
Twitter facebook googlebuzz

Despite the high praises we gave Halo 3: ODST we had one major complaint - no cooperative match making.  The excuse that was given at the time was a lack of resources, co-op matchmaking was something the Halo 3 engine wasn't capable of, and Bungie didn't have the manpower or time to alter it.

With Halo Reach on the horizon Bungie has been quiet as to weather or not this feature would make it in the game.  Believe it or not the game is still using the Halo 3 engine, though one that's heavily modified.  Did co-op match making make the cut?

Burn360.net attended Microsoft's X10 event and got the skinny.

A source inside the Microsoft X10 event has informed us that while it hasn’t been made public knowledge as of yet, Halo Reach will feature Public Matchmaking for Cooperative game modes.

Sounds like a planned feature that they aren't quite ready to announce.  I guess some Bungie employee had a little to much to drink at the event.

This means nothing to me. Who wants a bunch of brats running around in their game?

that's good news. i probably won't use it but i know a TON of people are always looking for more people to play firefight with. we have 4 gamertags for ODST mostly filled!

i also like the wording "cooperative game mode[size=150">s[/size">"

Okay, that's step one. Now how about drop-in/drop-out? AND BETTER NETCODE?!??

I like that too! And I agree Bakken, better netcode and Drop-in/Drop-out support are a must.

But I have to stress, the Multiplayer Beta better have Firefight as well.

And I hope the player customization is a bit more deeper than the previous games.

Not much fan of the Halo series, but that concept art with different looking character looks nice, will that be in the new Halo game?

This bit of news made Reach go from an "Obligated to Buy" to "Voluntary Day One" for me.

But you will only play as Noble Six who isn't on the cover. There should be at least 4 player co-op since they said Halo: Reach would have full parity with the features in the previous game. But the details are unknown.

They did say in an interview at IGN, that they could do more with character customization, but whether they do make it deeper we're find out in May.
