Online Co-Op: Co-Op Play is available over the internet or an online service like Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network. Each player needs their own system, game, and internet connection.

Couch Co-Op: Couch or Local Co-Op allows players to use one copy of the game with multiple controllers to play co-op. This includes both split screen play and same screen play. Couches are not required.

SplitScreen: The TV is split into multiple screens so each co-op player gets their own viewpoint. The screen could be split vertically or horizontally.

LAN or Systemlink: Co-Op Play is available over a Local Network or System Link Connection. Most likely a router will be required, but you may use a crossover cable in some cases.

Background:
This episodic downloadable game is a prequel to the Watchmen movie. Watchmen: The End is Night Part 1 and Watchmen: The End is Night Part 2 encompass the entire game.

The lines between good and evil have been blurred and crime and terror run rampant in the streets. The alleys, rooftops, and sewers are crawling with criminals and brutal gangs. And now, Underbossin a daring escapehas broken out of prison and is ruling with vicious darkness. The city is in need of saviors and only masked hero vigilantes answer the call. Answer the call in Watchmen: The End Is Nigh.

There is split-screen co-op but I don't think there is online co-op. This would be a crime of the highest caliber.
