LittleBigPlanet Gets MetalGearSolid Content Dec 23rd

Along with some fun Christmas content, the harmless-yet-controversial Playstation 3 title LittleBigPlanet is receiving more cross-franchise downloads, this time courtesy of Kojima Productions!

The Metal Gear Solid Premium Costume Pack features Solid Snake, Meryl Silverburgh, Screaming Mantis, and Raiden; you can purchase the whole pack for $5.99 or each costume for $1.99 apiece.

The Metal Gear Solid Premium Level Pack includes a fifth costume - the Gurlokovich Soldier as seen in the screenshot above - plus 72 stickers, 12 materials, 10 decorations, 18 objects, 3 background music tracks, one interactive music track, and more. There's even a "Paintinator": the LBP equivalent of a paintball gun. This pack will also feature 5 new Story Levels and one new Challenge Level. The Level Pack runs for $5.99.

Since I don't own LittleBigPlanet myself, I can't really decide if this is worth twelve bucks or not...but to those of you who decide not to purchase the content, Sony has good news for you: (click "Read More" to see the rest)

  • Non-MGS Level Pack owners can PLAY the MGS Story Levels by joining a “host” who owns the pack and play the levels online together. Now you won’t be able to keep any objects, but you can have tons of fun just PLAYing.
  • MGS Level Pack owners will be able to CREATE levels with any of these items (including the Paintinator) and SHARE them online for everyone to play.

We've heard that last line before -- thanks for throwing salt on the gash, Sony!

Oh, long as Media Molecule keeps cranking out great add-on content, the list of complaints will likely get shorter. Time will tell.

In the meantime, these packs will go live on PSN December 23rd.
