Ikki Unite, Sequel to the Classic Sunsoft Arcade Game, Heads to Switch on April 18

Hop online to save a farming village from hordes of evil monsters on Switch and Steam.

In 1985, Sunsoft released a Japanese arcade game called Ikki. Many years later, a sequel has arrived in the form of Ikki Unite. The game depicts a feudal farming village that rises up to overthrow its evil overlords. Up to 16 players can team up online in the Steam version of Ikki Unite. Nintendo players will soon be able to join in the feudal fun when the Switch version arrives on April 18 courtesy of Sunsoft and Plug In Digital.

Ikki Unite is an online multiplayer-focused game. Players can go it alone, but Steam reviews indicate that the difficulty is tuned for co-op. Gameplay resembles that of Vampire Survivors, though the goal here is to power-up a single item and reach the end of the game rather than to endlessly grow in power. The powered-up item can be reused in subsequent playthroughs to make the game easier.

Features:

  • 16-Player Mayhem: Ikki Unite can be played by up to 16 players simultaneously in online cooperation. Create your squad joining Gonbe, the forty-something vigilante, Magoichi, the trigger-happy legend, and many others!
  • 4 Classes: Play as one of the four archetypes: Explorers, Attackers, Enhancers and Healers!
  • Epic Action: So much action, you’ll forget you’re playing what was once dubbed the worst NES game ever.
  • Roguelite Madness: A different adventure every time you play, chose between a wide set of randomized items and bonuses! Because predictability is so 1985.
  • The Buddy System: Stick with your team. Or at least try to find them before the final boss does.
  • There's strength in unity: Even bigger enemies can be taken down when the squad is united and working together.
  • Resurrection: Fallen comrades can be brought back to life, don’t leave them behind!

Ikki Unite sells for $11.99 on Steam. The Switch version will be released on Thursday, April 18. The original Ikki game (which has 2-player local co-op) sells for $7.99 as Arcade Archives: Ikki on PlayStation and Switch.
