While Arc System Works is best known for games like Double Dragon Revive and the BlazBlue series, they also make non-punching games from time to time. DAMON and BABY is just such a game. It stars a future demon king named Damon who is bound by a curse to a mysterious baby (more like a toddler, really). In 2-player local co-op games, the second player gets to be Damon's dog! The game has just launched on PlayStation, Switch, and Steam... Poor Xbox doesn't get to hold the baby.
Features:
- Gameplay Loop: Cycle between exploration and upgrading your base.
- Combat: Master handguns, machine guns, and diverse weaponry for strategic boss battles.
- Customization: Tailor your playstyle with skill trees and extensive character outfits.
- Co-Op: Supports 2-player offline local co-op. The second player controls a canine companion to collect items and assist in combat.
Update roadmap:
Coming Soon: Quality Improvements Based on User Feedback - The very next update will focus on improving playability, taking into account the feedback received since release.
Fine-tuning of game balance
Improvements to the user interface (UI) and controls
System modifications to achieve more comfortable gameplay
Future Medium- to Long-Term Developments: Major Content Updates - As part of the developers’ medium- to long-term plan, they are preparing content expansions to enrich the gameplay experience. By adding new elements, they aim to surprise not only existing players but also those who will pick up the game in the future.
Steam reviews indicate that DAMON and BABY is already pretty good, but it's nice to know that the game will improve over time.
DAMON and BABY costs $19.99 on PlayStation, Switch, and Steam. There's also a free demo on all three platforms, and the save data carries over to the full game. Be nice to that baby, everybody!
