Last summer we brought you our hands-on preview of the new Contra sequel. Hard Corps: Uprising may be losing the 'Contra' prefix, but the same run and gun co-op action will be present. Konami's new title will be available for download on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Players will take control of super soldiers Bahamut and Krystal. But who cares about the characters? Old favorites like the Spread Gun and Laser will return, and let's face it, getting that big winged "S" is what you really remember from the early games.
Hard Corps: Uprising will have two different game modes, Rising and Arcade. Rising Mode will allow players to collect points to spend on character abilities and upgrades and features *gasp* a life bar. Arcade mode will be a more original experience, lacking a life bar and upgrades. These screenshots show off the new anime art style for the series, and if you have read my Yar's Revenge article, you know how I feel about that. A release date is to be determined, but these bright, cheery pics will either delight or disgust you. You know who you are.
