When Warside debuted on Steam back in April, I blazed through the campaign and had a great time doing it. Little did I know, however, that the turn-based strategy game was too easy. Well, the developers at Lavabird have fixed that and then some with the new version 1.2 update. It rebalances the campaign, improves the enemy AI, adds turn timers to multiplayer, and lots more. This update is one of several that will happen on the way to co-op support being added in the future.

Journey to the Savage Planet is a co-op cult hit that arrived way back in 2021. It features a colorful alien world to explore and plenty of crass humor. Well, it turns out that there's more exploring to be done, as Raccoon Logic Studios has just released a sequel called Revenge of the Savage Planet. It picks up where the first game left off, introduces new planets, and brings back its predecessor's much loved 2-player split-screen and online co-op support.

We've been excited for it not just because of its lovely Advance Wars-style graphics and intuitive gameplay, but also for its promised co-op support. Well, now that the game is here, it turns out that co-op won't be arriving until the console ports come along. That's a shame, but the currently-available solo campaign and competitive multiplayer are nothing to sneeze at.

We love no sale more than a co-op games sale, and that's what has just kicked off on Steam. A bunch of games that were developed in Sweden are on sale via the Swedish Smorgasbord Co-op Sale. The promotion includes V Rising, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide (all games that I've personally enjoyed), plus several more co-op titles. Why not give it a look, ja?

Everything's better in co-op, and that includes 3D platformers. Boti: Byteland Overclocked from Purple Ray Studio and Untold Tales is one such game, a robot and technology-themed platformer that debuted on Steam last year. Now Boti is getting ready to head to consoles in January, and it will include both 2-player local and online co-op.

The Co-Opticrew is jumping into a preview build of MechWarrior 5: Clans tackling two missions and talking about some of the new stuff that's being brought to the table. MechWarrior 5: Clans is a departure from the other MechWarrior game to date: it features heavy cinematics, a deep narrative that unfolds with a squad of pilots who - despite their differences, and reasons for being there, all come together to further their cause in a galactic battle.

Time to Morp from Team Halfbeard and Yogscast Games is a charming colony sim and automation game that's set on an alien planet. The game is still in Steam Early Access, so it has lots of room to grow. It just grew a lot, actually, thanks to the arrival of the "Double the Fun" update. With the addition of the new farming system, abilities, and toys for co-op, the game really has grown a lot since its debut.

Long ago, a tower defense game called Plants vs. Zombies took the world by storm. It was super good, we miss it, and shame on Popcap and EA for not making more mainline PvZ games. Luckily, Prikol Team and ESDigital Games are ready to fill that need with their new Steam release of Cats on Duty. This game has a serious PvZ vibe plus plenty of fresh ideas of its own. It's out now on Steam, and console versions are coming later this year.

Disney Illusion Island from Dlala Studios (makers of the most recent Battletoads) and Disney is a charming Switch-exclusive Metroidvania platformer that features 4-player local co-op. With a lovely art style, authentic voice acting, and clever co-op moves, it has always been a quality title. Today's "Mystery in Monoth" update ups the ante with a mysterious new adventure for gamers to enjoy.
