During the cold winter months, sometimes you need a game to match the season. Wendigo Blue is a beat 'em that's currently in Steam Early Access, and it might just fit that bill. Indie developer EndlessFluff published the game early in 2025 and continues to develop new content for it. The game already features 4-player local co-op, so it's right up our alley.

After years of updates, the team has finally released their big follow-up: MARVEL Cosmic Invasion. The new brawler promises all the style and charm of Shredder's Revenge but with a fantastic lineup of Marvel heroes and villains. It's out now on all current-gen platforms.

We've been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Double Dragon Revive, the first 3D Double Dragon in a long time, since Arc System Works announced it last year. Me oh my, it's a good season for beat 'em ups. Arc System Works' Double Dragon: Revive is just around the corner, and Dotemu's Absolum recently landed on all platforms but the beleaguered Xbox. Not only is Absolum garnering piles of critical praise, it has also sold over 200,000 copies in its first week of release. That's an impressive debut for Dotemu's first game that isn't a remake or a sequel to an existing franchise. Dodge Roll and Devolver Digital's Enter the Gungeon is a hit twin-stick shooter roguelike that debuted nearly ten years ago. Since then, it has received several DLCs and a single-player spin-off called Exit the Dungeon. Well, it seems that there's more life left in Enter the Gungeon yet. It's finally coming to Android and iOS, and with online co-op not found in the big-screen versions.

Dora the Explorer is a heartrending tale of a girl who gets lost in the jungle and must evade a carnivorous fox called Swiper. At least, I think that's what it's about; I haven't seen the show in several years. Well, nowadays, there's a CG-animated series called Dora on Paramount Plus. That show will soon have a video game adaptation from Outright Games, Dora: Rainforest Rescue, and it will feature 2-player local co-op.

At the beginning of this year, Forever Entertainment announced that THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake was in the works for all platforms. Many fans consider HotD2 to be the best game in the series, so this was good news indeed. The questions remained, however, of when the remake would come out, and which platforms would receive it first. Well, now we know! HotD 2: Remake is due on Switch and PC on August 7, and other versions will follow at some point after that.

Back in the innocent 1990s, Jaleco released a trilogy of Super NES beat 'em ups in the Rushing Beat series. Well, in Japan, they were part of that series. In international markets, Jaleco renamed each game and censored it to pieces. Nowadays, however, a fourth game called RUSHING BEAT X: Return of the Brawl Brothers is in the works for Steam and Switch 2 from City Connection and Clear River Games. Like its predecessors, Rushing Beat X will support 2-player local co-op, and it's extremely promising.

We've been excited about Worship, from Chasing Rats Games, ever since we learned of its blend of Pikmin-style gameplay with eldritch creepiness. Teaming up to lead a world-ending cult sounds like good, mean fun. As it turns out, gamers will finally be able to have just that kind of fun in July. That's when Worship will arrive on Steam Early Access. If you can't wait that long, there's a demo to try as well.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the first game in the Bloodstained series from ArtPlay and 505 Games, is a fantastic Metroidvania game, but its post-release co-op mode was a complete afterthought. Thankfully, co-op seems to be a more integral feature in the upcoming sequel/prequel, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement. The new game's campaign will feature two playable protagonists and (seemingly) 2-player local co-op right out of the gate, not unlike the Gal Guardians series. It's due out on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2026.
