Legendary Car Pack Pricing is Legendary in Burnout Paradise

It's actually not floating, all the money is holding it up.

You ALMOST had us Criterion.  You added totally awesome cars are premium DLC to your 8 player co-op title Burnout Paradise.  And what did you go and do?  You priced the best car in the pack double that of the others.  That's right, you'll be dropping $4 on your mock-DeLorean car in Burnout.  I'd honestly be willing to pay it if these were actual license vehicles, instead of knock off cars.

The rest of the cars; Hunter Manhattan Spirit (Ghostbusters), Hunter Cavalry Bootlegger (GeneralLee), Carson GT Nighthawk (Kitt) are all priced at $1.99 each.  Thankfully you can get the whole pack of cars for a discounted $7.99.

I'm also curious how this will work in co-op.  Will you only be able to use your high price ride with other players who own the same content?

So what do the Co-Optination think?  Worth the price of a map pack to relive our child hood youth for a few hours in Paradise City?

Legendary rip-off.

Burnout Paradise is on its way for my youngest kiddo, and there's no way he'll let me get away with no legendary cars. So, I guess I am in.

As frustrated as I am about the pricing, as long as they are co-opable. I'll buy.

There will probably be a title update for everyone, so that people who haven't bought the pack can still see the cars. What better way to entice buyers than by letting them see their friends driving them?

The timeless argument will be: with all of the free content so far, how can anyone really complain? This is not affecting gameplay in any way.

Personally, I'd rather have this for $8 than the GTA IV expansion for $20 or the Fable 2 Knothole Island for $10. Heck, I'd rather have this than the Burnout Paradise Party Pack for $10.

In the end, it's all about choice. Sure, it's a money grab! This is EA, and if they can make money, they will. We've done plenty of ranting about studios closing and people being laid off...management issues or not, I'm of the mindset that if these troubled developers are going to succeed, it's going to be because they deliver what the consumer wants at a price they're willing to pay. And as aggravating as it may be: plenty of people are going to pay $8 for the car pack.

I think it's unfair to criticize them for charging for the DLC after all of the free content and updates. Not to mention the price drops. It's a $20 game, hard copy or downloadable.

I can't see them NOT letting other players at least see them... much like cars other people have unlocked that you have not?

As far as buying them... well... I have yet to pay for anything other than Live! itself, but that may change soon. 1.21 gigawatts here I come!

Not so much a legendary rip off like buying Rock Band 1 and 2, then having to repurchase a license for $5 to play the songs from the first game in the 2nd, after having dropped what, like $169.99 for the 1st one when it came out.

Didn't they already give a bunch of free content? If so, I'd say they are being pretty generous in the long run. This isn't a situation where they are charging to download content that should have been in the game in the first place.

We've got to look at this from a capitalist POV.

Already, they've done enough free upgrades to make a $60 game a great value.

Then they drop the price to $30.00 and still continue giving free upgrades.

Sooner or later, they're gonna have to keep making the game profitable if they want to keep offering their fans more cool stuff. I'd like to see them keep offering more stuff for one game verse developing a Burnout Paradise 2.

8 bucks for downloadable content vs $60 for a sequel? I'll take the DLC any day.

actually the game's been $20 for a couple weeks now, if not longer. Definitely a steal.

You would think they would patch the USB port stuff.. Its just silly to have to unplug stuff that you usually just leave plugged
Yeah but I think it would still be cool!
Thanks for clearing that up! I probably won't buy it though.
I recently picked up a 360 after nearly five years of Warcraft, so... well, I have some catching up to do. My current game libra
