The Borderlands hype machine is in full effect, and if the latest preview is any indication, the game looks to be worthy of all the buzz. G4 has a preview of Borderlands' co-op mode, and it's pretty sweet.
Drop in, drop out, item trading, scaling difficulty as players are added, and a host of special abilities that all work together... yes, we love all these things. To top it all off, there's even a tidbit about the change in art style. The preview is definitely worth checking out. Is it October yet?

no split screen online. you can play split screen but you can't mix with online players. they hinted that they might try to include that feature in an update but no promises

That would be great if they implemented it so it was couch co-op online compatible.
I'm assuming that if you do couch co-op, you can only do two player right? Seems like no one has the guts to do four player split screen any more on most games.

I really want them to do 4 player couch coop, but I can't rember the last game that had 4 player couch coop. Why has everyone given up on it, I miss the days of 4 player couch coop.
halo 3 has 4 player split screen but not co-op. ODST will no doubt be the same. can't think of any others

This is my most anticipated game of the year.
They could really mess this up for me. The gameplay in a shooter is the most important part, and it's not something I can determine from a video. It looks great, but if the controls don't feel great this game won't be as fun. However, I'll keep my hopes up because they are doing a fantastic job so far!
I also liked the Old Art Style better than the New "Bugs Bunny" art style...
i posted the official FAQ on the main borderlands thread but to answer these questions:
splitscreen is 2 player local only
system link up to 4 player (did not specify if you can mix online & split screen but i'm assuming no... everyone needs gold)
the old style was just like every other shooter out there. the new art style is really cool, i don't understand why people are so opposed to it.
Sadly because people like the familiar and are hesitant to try new things.
