Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes Demo Up, Co-Op Info

Marc "DjinniMan" Allie September 3rd, 2009 at 9:28 AM

Star Wars fans seem to be divided into two camps.  There are old timers like me, who are original trilogy purists, and look down a bit on the newer material, including the prequels.  Then, there are the newer fans, who realize Star Wars is cool no matter what; come on, lightsabers, the Force, robots, spaceships, aliens, what's not to like? (Except Jar-Jar.)  The latest Star Wars game, The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, may tend to please the latter group, but even for us oldies, it looks like fun, with the inclusion of co-op.

The Xbox 360 demo for the game has now been released for your downloading pleasure.  (Queue it up here.)  According to Bitmob's interview, Republic Heroes will include drop in/drop out co-op, and puzzles similar to those of the LEGO Star Wars games.  I know this grumpy old Star Wars fan will be trying it out with his two Clone Wars fans.  Anyone else going to check this one out?

I hope the demo hits PSN today too. Im one of the "old campers", and have not been all that pleased with the Clone Wars and prequels. However, if the game is fun, I will put aside those prejudices and enjoy.

Felt very much like the Lego games and Spiderman Friend or Foe? I think I will get it to play locally with my partner than for online play.

The demo has only local co-op. Will the final build features online co-op?

You guys do not Realize How Genius the Ewoks and Jar Jar are...
As a Star Wars fan and a Father in a Family of 4. When it comes to Pick a Movie Time, Star Wars is never a Hard Sell. It has All the Bases Covered. The Kids Love Jar Jar cause he is Comic Relief. The Girls Love Ewoks cause they are Teddy Bears. There is usually some Kind of Love Interest for the Girls as well.

So Us Dudes may not like Jar Jar or Ewoks, if they Get the DVD in the Player then They have served their purpose.

One of my Friends Said he did not Like Episode 1 cause He thought Yoda Looked Fake... Yeah... and He looked Real in Empire Strikes Back. Sometimes Expectation can Ruin what should have been a Great Experience. Watch again with your mind open. I was Never a Big Obi-Wan Fan, after the Prequels... He's my Favorite Character.

Oh Yeah... Darth Maul and General Grievous RULE!!!

I actually really enjoyed the plot of the new films. It was quite interesting to see how empire was formed... it actually makes the rebellion look like the bad guys!

I think one change would have made a world of difference in the prequels. There was a need for an awesome recurring villain throughout the trilogy. Combine the roles of Darth Maul, Count Dooku, and General Grievous. No real reason why there needed to be three bad guys like that. Darth Maul was horribly underused, I'd have preferred it if he stuck around until the beginning of Episode 3.

Totally agree - he was by far the best character from the new films.

Hopefully folks had fun. Got quite a few matches in, but I'm signing off for the night.
