Pre-Order Modern Warfare 2 and Get $20 in Videogame Credit

Right now Amazon is running a deal on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 where pre-orders get $20 in credit to be used towards future video game purchases.  That essentially makes the price of the game $40 on all three platforms; PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

This appears to only apply to the normal and Hardened versions of the game, but not the Prestige Edition which comes with the night vision goggles.  Amazon is also offering release date delivery for the title which is free for Prime members and around  $5 for everyone else.

Modern Warfare 2 will contain a 2 player online and split-screen co-op mode called Spec Ops which contains 23 unique cooperative missions.  The game releases on November 10th and you can find all of our coverage on the game right here.

walmart has a similar deal... $20 gift card with purchase.

now i'm tempted... damn it. i feel like i've barely scratched the surface of ODST, i've played just a few minutes of borderlands, and now this.

I'm a glutton for punishment. I have a stack of games to play knee high. I pre-ordered though.

There's a 50 % chance that MW2 will be playable at Budapest GameShow next week at Saturday. If not a singleplayer campaign, then maybe a multiplayer one (maybe Spec Ops? ).

If it will be, then I'll make a video of it (and of course I'll make pictures and stuff about everything)

Or don't preorder it and stand for respect to gamers. IW doesn't deserve your money anymore if you are a PC gamer.

Curious timing, though. Like they are afraid.

IW has nothing to do with deals like this. whenever you see credit or gift cards, that's almost always the retailer. they figure if they do well with a big game, they can give all those people incentive to buy more games from them.

I'll be curious to see just how much of an effect their announcement of no dedicated servers on PC actually hurts sales. My guess? Almost none at all.

Well, you have to realize that COD is pretty much a token console game now. At least, that's my perspective. I'm interested in this Amazon deal, because I'm buying a copy for my brother...but the shipping makes it a little less sweet.

what's wrong with release date shipping?

txshurricane at 01:20 PM on 10.22.2009

The shipping cost. It's not a deal-breaker, but saving $20 and then turning around and paying $10 for shipping two copies is meh. I may wait and see what Toys R Us offers, or take the Wal-Mart deal.

oh you don't get $40? that stinks

i still have $15 credit from ODST. i would have used it for borderlands but i had a better price on it since i ordered it early (before ODST) when it was $53.

That giftcard deal is instore right? The shipping cost from Amazon isn't bad but a walmart is only like 3 blocks away from where I live! And a $20 giftcard from them sounds sweeter.

the deal is online only but you can do in-store pickup

That's why I have Prime. Free release date shipping, unlimited 2 day shipping. Priority processing.

It's completely worth the $70.

those are nice perks but you probably order more from amazon than i do. although i suppose if i had amazon prime, i'd use it for just about everything.

the only thing that annoys me about amazon prime (or free shipping if you don't have prime) is its availability seems so random. more popular items always have the option but when i was looking for soldering tools, i really had to search to fill my order with free shipping items. otherwise i was getting killed by shipping small items individually.

I never talk when I play online on COD. No one really says anything worth listening to, or no one talks whatsoever.
