There's been a lot of anticipation for Valve's survival horror first person shooting four player co-op title Left 4 Dead Yes, that's the genre. As we make our ways through the halls of E3, we had a chance to sit down and play the Xbox 360 and PC title, and let me tell you, it's going to meet expectations.
The basic premise of the game puts players in the role of one of four characters as they try to survive endless hordes of zombies. Obviously team work is crucial, and there are many times we found ourselves having to help a comrade out. Whether he was being overrun by a pack of zombies like a swarm of bugs, reviving a fallen teammate, or covering each other's backs; the co-op nature of the game is very apparent from the get go.
The game looks absolutely gorgeous with this gritty and grainy stylized filter being applied to the dark enviornments of the game. Everything about the atmosphere of the game from graphics to sound to lighting ooozes style. Left 4 Dead will be available on the PC and Xbox 360 this fall and support 4 player co-op online.
We absolutely loved what we played of Left 4 Dead. The game promises a ton of replayability using the in game AI Director that dynamically places weapons, ammo and bad guys depending on how your team is doing. If this is pulled off well, the game is sure to have a long life.
And now, something special. We've got an exclusive hi-resolution video of the game. All I can tell you is...don't shoot the car alarm. Hit the Read More link to view it.
Unbelievable!!
That's pretty impressive gameplay footage. Were you playing that Nick? The only negative is at times it was pretty shaky, which I'm sure is due to the person playing it for the first time (as it will be for me). I was reading on Joystiq today that there will be safe rooms stocked with ammo and health, and the folks there who played it thought it was really great with pacing. That's great, because as much as I love non-stop action I do want an in-game break like that.
It looks good, but seriously, I need the split-screen co-op in a game like this.
Yet another game I could not be me excited about. Amazing considering that two years, only a couple of previews could ever hold my attention.
Looks really good.
I REALLY like how when you get knocked to the ground you can still defend yourself. I will say I didn't expect the gameplay to be so fast. Most zombies I've met are slow. I dig how the team voices their actions, it really helps co-ordinate things.
I can't WAIT to shoot the car!! ^_^
It does have 2 player split screen on the 360.
I've been watching this one for awhile and I'm really exited. I just hate it when I have to choose between PC and XB360! I wish the communities between the two were more connected. My wife is way better with the Xbox but I like the community creativity and extra content that goes along with the PC. I can already see this is going to be a modder's paradise...just think when the Portal Gun makes it in there! Dropping zombies through the sides of buildings and making explosive barrels flying through infinite portal loops in crowded hallways...nvm...I'm buying on PC I LOVE YOU VALVE!!!
