More Details on Ratchet and Clank All 4 One

We've gotten wind of more details on the upcoming 4 player co-op Rachet and Clank game, Rachet and Clank All 4 One. Eurogamer had a chance to demo the game and their writeup contained some great co-op information.

The basic premise for the game is as follows: In an attempt to destroy heroes Ratchet and Clank, Dr. Nefarious accidentally gets them all sucked into a gadget called the Creature Collector along with the famously idiotic Captain Qwark. In order to survive in this new environment, the former adversaries will have to join forces to fight a common enemy.

The game supports both online drop-in/drop-out co-op and local shared screen co-op. Eurogamer stressed their enthusiasm that All 4 One is a game which actually requires true cooperatation to progress. Players can synergize their weapon choices to mow through enemies quicker: not all weapons are just meant for obliterating - some are made for incapacitating while your teammates can come in and make quick work of helpless enemies. Not only can optional leashes be used to attach to another player that's lagging behind in order to avoid the dreaded not-on-the-screen-equals-not-alive-anymore death (this sounds particularly useful if playing with younger children or new gamers), but in some places of the game you must all leash together to swing across large gaps. In other areas, players must use their vacuum guns to shoot other players across gaps; however, be warned, players can also use thses guns to simply annoy other players by shooting them off cliffs (though falling from this won't do fatal damage).

This brings us to the competitive aspects of the game. While the game is co-op at heart, since former enemies and rivals are working together, it makes sense that there may be a competitive streak alive and well amongst our heroes. At the end of every stage players are ranked on how well they did, with slight ridiculing to players who came in last place. Let's hope this ridicule isn't too harsh, especially for any young kids who may be playing the game with you.

Ratchet and Clank All 4 One is due out Holiday Season of this year.
