LittleBigPlanet Launching Despite the Lack of Online Co-Op Creation

You see that frowny face SackBoy is making in the above picture?  That's because he's sad that Sony and MediaMolecule have decided to launch LittleBigPlanet on October 21st despite the fact the online co-op mode is not ready.    Wait..What?!?!

Yup, apparently the release first - patch later philosophy now applies to AAA titles like Sony's LittleBigPlanet.  According to Eurogamer while the game won't be playable online with 4 player co-op, there is still offline co-op available until the patch is released.  The claim is the patch will follow only a "few weeks" after the game's release, why not delay it? We all know the holiday season rush is a critical time to get game's out the door, but a few weeks should still put the release before Black Friday in the US.  Of course this also makes us wonder what else is missing and/or broken in the game.

Update: 1UP has some more clarifying details stating the game still retains online co-op, just not the online creation tools.  So you'll be able to play through already created levels, you just won't be able to create levels with your friends until the patch.

Is the online co-op also not going to be available? I thought it was just the co-op level creator.

I'll likely get this at some point. I am afraid that if I do, I'll have to buy more PS3 controllers so the kiddos can play with me! Hmm, will PS2 controllers work with an adapter? I know I can play PS2 games on my PS3 that way...

Wow, the game that could do no wrong isn't perfect after all. I'm still excited for it's release and this news will allow me more time to play with the level editor before getting online with friends. That might actually be a good thing in my opinion considering how little time I have to play games these days.

DjinniMan, http://www.amazon.com/PS2-Controller-Ad ... B000PS1TG6

Sadly, no SIXAXIS motion capability is included with this conversion. I only point that out because making a note of it on the Amazon page amuses me. Why would a USB converter give you motion capability?

kinda sucks for alot of people, although im sure 99% of my playtime with this game will be local play.
