I thought it might have been Left 4 Dead 3, but alas it was not. Instead I'm almost equally as excited to see a brand new FPS from developer Saber Interactive (TimeShift, Inversion) set in the World War Z universe.
The first expansion to Destiny 2 arrived this week, and we decided to take a little bit of time Tuesday night to check it out. The "Curse of Osiris" added a whole new area (Mercury), a new public space, and some new activities for those who are interested, and while we didn't get a chance to look at them all, we did run through the "Infinite Forest" a few times.
THQ Nordic is continuing to revive the properties of game's past with the release of SpellForce 3 today. The third entry in the SpellForce series, the title mixes up RPG character progression in the form of hero characters with RTS resource and army management. Ubisoft's cover/loot/toboggan shooter, The Division, hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire since its initial release in 2016. Nevertheless, a core contingent of fans has been sticking with the game through thick and thin. Why, you might ask, do said players seem impervious the allure of newer releases? Well, you'll get a chance to see for yourself this weekend on PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One.
It's been an interesting past couple months for Destiny 2. Between the lack of a compelling endgame to which to return and the recent XP brouhaha, the loot shooter has gotten a little bit of a black eye. Bungie is hoping to turn things around this month with the new "Curse of Osiris" DLC that hits today (thereby adding more content), and a big update planned for next Tuesday that will address some of the game's underlying issues.
As if Dungeon Defenders 2 wasn’t wonderful enough in its current form, costing $0.00 and brimming with content, the developers at Trendy Entertainment have announced the first of many updates that will bring even more content to an already full game. Meaning that for the still low price of FREE you can play a full game and get your update on in a few short weeks.
We're getting ever closer to the end of the year, and as things start to wrap up, Locke, Mike, and Jason decided to delve once more into the world of Grim Dawn and check out the "Ashes of Malmouth" DLC that was released in October. Fair warning: we discuss a number of games that are not Grim Dawn or the DLC.
Today Firaxis announced a new expansion for Civilization VI. Entitled Rise and Fall, this expansion looks jam-packed with new features, civilizations, and leaders. What has us most excited, though, is the enhanced alliance system.
Canadian developer Cellar Door Games is best known for their 2013 hit, Rogue Legacy. After getting that game out on as many platforms as possible, they switched gears to an action-RPG brawler that will be nearing its release quite soon: Full Metal Furies. They teased that a launch date reveal will be dropping next Wednesday, December 6, so until we learn when we can get our mitts on this, enjoy some videos that lay out the "ABCs."
Dead Drop Studios is getting ready to unleash their latest co-op survival horror title upon the world. Outbreak: The New Nightmare is leaving Early Access sometime in January, and if you're interested in checking out this third-person shooter that pays homage to series like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, then you may want to pick it up now.
Sony and Atlus will be shutting down the servers for Demon's Souls on February 28, 2018. Eight years after it made a splash in the "hardcore" action RPG scene, it seems like the game will finally be riding into the sunset...
