Similar to the special Predator mission that popped up late last year, the new "Splinter Cell Special Challenge" mission will offer players that are able to successfully complete it some in-game goodies they can equip on their character. These include Sam Fisher's Night Vision Goggles, Proximity Mines (which are new), and Splinter Cell patch. As long as you complete the mission before May 2, you'll get those rewards/bragging rights. After that, you can still play the mission and listen to Michael Ironside's gruff intonations, but the rewards are off the table.

This special challenge is a separate mission you take on outside of the main story campaign. It can be taken on alone or with your usual co-op crew, but regardless, be prepared. The Predator can cloak, use its Plasma Cannon and Smart Disc, and can freely run around the treetops in order to better get the drop on you. Senior producer Nouredine Abboud even hints that the nuclear option is always on the table. Should you come out on top in this encounter, however, then you'll be rewarded with the Predator's Wrist Blades and helmet, which allows you to turn on that iconic Predator heat vision.

The free weekend is in celebration of the latest title update that added a new 4v4 PvP mode. While the reason for this weekend gaming boon may not be cooperative, we'll always take advantage of any reason to enjoy some good co-op gaming. Best of all, if you and your co-op crew are enjoying the title, then you can pick it up for 50% off until Monday, October 16 via Steam, or the following Monday (October 23) if you buy it off Uplay, the PSN store, and Microsoft Store (if you are an Xbox Live Gold member).

The DLC, titled "Narco Road," weirdly doesn't continue with your character's progress from the main game. Instead, you're given a new character that's set to level 20 and set loose to tackle the 15 new missions. The reason for this kind of reset appears due to the shift in your employer. Rather than being part of an elite military strike team, you're now a mercenary working for the Santa Blanca cartel. You'll have to impress some smuggling gangs to get them on your side (apparently by doing sick stunts in cars/bikes/planes), while also battling a rival cartel.

The second patch for Ghost Recon tweaks a bunch of other things too, including the disabling of UI elements, support for left handed mouse and keyboard players, and giving players the option to choose which vehicle drops in the game world thanks to your rebel friends.
