TMNT: Splintered Fate, the Ninja Turtles Roguelike, Announced for Nintendo Switch

The Hades-style TMNT game is heading from Apple Arcade to Switch.

After a period of Apple Arcade exclusivity, Super Evil Megacorp's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate is riding the timed exclusivity train onto Nintendo Switch. The top-down roguelike features a great 2D visual style, an authentic comic book-style storyline, and 4-player online co-op. The Turtles will be splintering fates on Switch this July.

Official description:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate ... puts players in full control of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo in an all-new story co-written by SEMC Creative Director Kevin Michael Johnson and legendary TMNT comic book author Tom Waltz. ... The game features fast-flowing combat, a diverse build system that will allow players to build the elemental infused Teenage Turtle of their dreams, bodacious co-op capabilities, and improved visual design, graphics and audio quality.

Set across four unique New York City environments, the game keeps TMNT fans enthralled from start to finish, as players encounter familiar allies, tons of easter eggs and references across collectibles and narrative, and encounters with iconic bosses including, of course, the mutant duo Bebop and Rocksteady and archenemy Shredder.

The story, which seems to be based on the IDW TMNT comics universe, involves the Turtles attempting to rescue their master, Splinter, from the Foot clan. The announcement trailer certainly reveals a lovely game with comics-inspired art. In addition to Bebop and Rocksteady, the game will feature enemies like Karai and Leatherhead, as well as allies like April O'Neil, Casey Jones, and Metal Head.

Splintered Fate is one of several Turtles games that are scheduled for 2024. TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants (based on the 2012 animated series) is due on April 23 from GameMill Entertainment. We'll have a full co-op review of that one when it launches. Outright Games has TMNT: Mutants Unleashed (based on the TMNT: Mutant Mayhem animated film) in store for Q4 2024 as well. That's at least three totally different Turtles games in one little year, dudes!

TMNT: Splintered Fate will arrive on Nintendo Switch in July. The iOS version is already available via Apple Arcade.
