All the way back in 2023, Thunder Lotus Games announced 33 Immortals for Xbox and PC. The game launched in early access on March 18, but only on Xbox Series S|X consoles and Epic Game Store. What about the aging Xbox One, you ask? What about Steam? Well, one of those questions has finally been answered. As of last week, 33 Immortals is now playable on Xbox One. Hopefully those pre-SSD loading times won't affect other users!
In 33 Immortals, players load into a hub world where they can talk to NPCs, customize characters and change weapons (classes), and then step through a portal into an MMO-style raid for 33 players. From there, players will run around the environment looking for chests, jars, and mini-dungeon entrances, all while fighting endless hordes of monsters. Eventually, the heroes will be forced to gather in one area, fend off one last onslaught of enemies, and then ascend to the boss fight. The boss of the first raid, Lucifer, is a fierce and gigantic monstrosity with three heads. If the team manages to survive, they'll reap rewards and perhaps gain a key to the game's second raid...

Having played 33 Immortals a few times now, the game is starting to grow on me. Initially, I was put off by the combat, which is slower and clunkier than games like TMNT: Splintered Fate, and the scarcity of guidance during the raids. Players can check an area map and head to points of interest, but things can still be confusing at times. Still, as you build up your character between runs and get more in practice, the game does become more enjoyable and rewarding. Hopefully, Thunder Lotus will continue to refine it and add more content over time.
Alongside the Xbox One version's arrival, 33 Immortals has been updated for all platforms. See the update notes here.
33 Immortals costs $19.99 on Xbox/Windows Store and Epic. It's also available on Xbox Game Pass. Now that the game's playable on Xbox One, let's hope that Steam and PlayStation versions aren't far behind.
