The Elder Scrolls Online may have been out for a while, in fact it's something we checked out back in 2015, but recent updates and new expansion called Elsweyr has made us re-evaluate our interests in Bethesda's co-op heavy MMO.
Earlier this week, Hi-Rez Studios released patch 6.1 for their third-person MOBA, SMITE. While there are a number of tweaks and fixes and other updates in this patch, the biggest feature is making the game cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms where the game is available: PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Do you have a significant other and no current plans for Valentine's Day? Why not spend some time with the most relationship-building experience out there: co-op videogames?
The Battlefield series traditionally hasn't had much in the way of co-op gameplay, but that'll be changing next week with the introduction of the Combined Arms mode to Battlefield V.
As of yesterday, It's Anecdotal's couch co-op adventure title, 39 Days to Mars, can be acquired and played on your Xbox One. The game was first launched on PC via Steam back in April last year, and it will also be making its way to the Nintendo Switch sometime this year.
If you were thinking, "man, I can't wait for 'Avengers: Endgame' and would really like to hop into some Marvel games before it comes out in April," good news! Marvel/TT Games/WB Interactive Publishing just announced the LEGO Marvel Collection, which compiles LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, and LEGO Marvel's Avengers into one package, including all DLC previously released for those games. The bad news is that Disney now owns those thoughts under copyright laws, so please turn your brain over to them.
System Era Softworks' "sandbox adventure" game, Astroneer, is finally out of Early Access today and hits full 1.0! For this week's "Let's Play Co-Op," we decided to hop back in and kick the tires (and dig some holes underneath said tires).
By the end of March, we will not be in short supply of "loot shooters." Destiny 2 has seen a resurgence thanks to the "Forsaken" expansion and the steady roll-out of content ever since, Bioware's Anthem drops in just a couple weeks, and Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is just a month away from hitting the scene. If the latter's more "realistic" take on the genre (i.e., you're not shooting lasers or flying around in mech suits), and want to check it out before March 15, then you've got a little bit of time to try and get into the Private Beta that starts tomorrow.
Crackdown 3's release is just 9 days away, and to celebrate, we now have the official launch trailer for a game that was originally announced in 2015. Don't expect any radical differences here between the previous two games - you still have a powerful "Agent" that takes on gangs of enemies in a neon filled city given free reign to blow up and shoot up everything in sight.
The popular chef'em'up, Overcooked! 2, has been pumping out that sweet, sweet content since its release back in August of last year, and that wonderful tradition continues today.
This past December, Phoenix Labs revealed that they would be bringing their co-op action-RPG, Dauntless, to consoles sometime in 2019. They teased at the time their vision of "One Dauntless," where the game would support full cross-platform play and progression. It seems that they will achieve that vision thanks to Epic's recently revamped Games Store.
If you have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription, then you can check out Gears of War 4 for free starting today. You'll be able to play through as much of the campaign and Horde modes (and competitive multiplayer, too) as you like until 2:59 AM EST on Monday, February 4. After that time with the game, if you decide you want to keep on playing, then you'll be able to buy it and keep your progress.
First announced a year ago, Chucklefish's turn-based strategy game, Wargroove, will finally see the light of day in just a couple weeks... on the Switch, Xbox One, and PC, at least. The title is still coming to the PlayStation 4, but its release date is still TBD.
