PlayStation Rewards Beta Launches Tomorrow

PlayStation 3 owners, do you want more recognition for your loyalty to Sony?  Well, you're in luck!  PlayStation has announced PlayStation Rewards, a little something to say 'thank you' for being a loyal fan.  PlayStation Rewards is launching an invitation-only beta tomorrow, October 28th.

To be eligible you must be a PlayStation Plus or Gamer Advisory Panel member who has opted-in to marketing as of October 24th.  You also must be in the U.S.  Sorry, everybody else on the planet.  During this beta period Sony will be looking to get as much feedback as possible.  The Rewards program will cost the low low price of zero dollars; there is no fee to join.  Right now, the Rewards program is only open to PlayStation 3 owners, but according to playstation.blog "we hope to include PSP users as well not too far down the road."

The rewards include things like:

Exclusive PSN avatars that display member status in the program

Exclusive dynamic themes and PlayStation Home content

Opportunities throughout the program year to participate in members-only sweepstakes and giveaways for experiences and merchandise you won’t find elsewhere (The first of which is an all expenses paid trip to the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, as PlayStation’s guest)

What you have to do to get Rewards:

Keep playing new games, buying content purchased from PlayStation Network in the PlayStation Store. and PlayStation Home, download movies and TV shows, or just communicate with us by taking one of our surveys, for example, and you’ll now be recognized for it.

The more you play and participate, the more progress you’ll make through our three reward tiers — “Select,” “Pro,” and “Legendary.” As your status increases, so do the rewards. And if you want to check out your current status level, simply go to your private profile page and look at the reward progress meter.

So there you have it.  An exclusive club inside other clubs to get stuff representing your status in that club to other members of said club.  Still, it is nice to see loyalty rewarded.  This is supposed to be a dynamic and growing system.  We'll see what things many come in the upcoming months.

Did you get an invite to the beta?  Let us know what you think.
