Apache: Air Assault comes to us on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. With flight simulators so hard to come by lately, we take the game for a test flight to see if the genre still has legs. Two player local co-op and four player online co-op help its cause as we battle it out in the unfriendly skies.

A demo has been released for Apache Air Assault on Xbox Live.  It weighs in at around 900MB and features two missions and a training section.  Sadly the game's local co-op mode of play isn't on display - where one player controls the helicopter while the other is the gunner.   Apache Air Assault is from developer Gaijin Entertainment, who created the famous PC game IL-2 Sturmovik Birds of Prey.  The good news is you can play Apache Air Assault as either a sim or an arcade style game with more forgiving controls.

Co-Optimers have been vocal on both sides of a raging Apache: Air Assault debate - should the game allow each player their own chopper, or only as pilot/gunner combinations? Okay...it's not really a raging debate...not much of a debate at all... And yet developer Gaijin Entertainment has answered the call nonetheless.

Activision have just announced a release date for Apache: Air Assault - a two player co-op helicopter action/sim for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.  That date?  November 9th.  

Activision has announced a brand new flight sim for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 called Apache: Air Assault.  The game is being developed by Gaijin Entertainment and features sixteen multi-level stages through the environments of Africa, Middle East, and Central America.  Catering to both the hardcore and casual, the game will offer both arcade and simulation styles of play.
