Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase was light on big franchise updates this year, but Activision can always be relied upon to announce a new yearly Call of Duty. This year's entry is Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and it looks to be a landmark installment. What's the big deal? Campaign co-op! Oh, Black Ops 7 will still have a cooperative Zombies mode, but the chance to experience the game's big-budget campaign with a friend(maybe even friends?) should be a rare treat. The last Black Ops with campaign co-op was 2015's Black Ops 3.

Since it arrived in October, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been getting a steady stream of content updates. Most excitingly for us here in Co-op Land (TM), the game's round-based zombies mode got a third map and the slightly easier "Directed Mode" not too long ago. Still, more is always better, so three maps isn't enough! Luckily, a map called "The Tomb" will be added on January 28. That's not too far off!

Just a few days ago, Activision released the first trailer for the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. That thing was scary! I'm still scared. But I need to get over it, because even more Zombies details have arrived. This year's Zombies mode will feature a Guided mode to help ease players into the always-too-hard co-op mode, an optional third-person camera, and more. We're talking about spooky stuff, but it's cool nonetheless.

One of the most exciting aspects of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has to be its Zombies mode. The 4-player online co-op mode will feature a return to round-based gameplay, two new maps, and a suspenseful story. Thanks to today's trailer and official blog post, we now know the Zombies scenario and characters as well.

Call of Duty is a big deal every year, but perhaps never as much as this one, the first year that a new CoD will launch on Game Pass. Today, Microsoft showed off Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at the Xbox Games Showcase, revealing lots of cool gameplay footage and details. This year's Xbox Games Showcase was light on cooperative content; Microsoft didn't seem to focus on co-op features in any of the game reveals. Still, the showcase did show some genuinely hot games, so we can't complain too much. Some of the games shown might even end up featuring co-op that hasn't been announced yet. We don't know yet whether this year's Call of Duty (Black Ops 6) will feature a co-op mode, but they usually do. Microsoft and Activision have announced that the game will be revealed to the world on June 9, so we're hoping to find out some co-op details soon. What's more, Microsoft also announced today that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch. That's a big get for Xbox, and surely one of the reasons that Microsoft bought Activision in the first place.
