Borderlands Will Have Split Screen Play

Great news couch co-op fans!  We just got word off the E3 show floor from our Colony of Gamer's Reporter that Borderlands, the four player co-op action RPG from Gearbox, will indeed have split screen play.

The rep wouldn't confirm how many players would be able to play - or whether or not local and online players could mix, but it's good news none the less!  Did you know there's an easy way to tell if a game has split screen or local co-op play?  Just look for the icons at the top of the game's detail page!

Great news to be sure! I was not paying this game any attention, and now I'm very interested.

I know practically nothing about the game yet, but it seems like I heard that it has some feature where it will randomly generate new levels for you and your co-op buddies. If thats true, this game could have A LOT of fun replay value if thats true and if they implement it well.
One of my favorite things in co-op is playing through a section of the game that neither of us have played before and figuring it out together. If there is a random level generator and it actually makes decent levels, then that experience of figuring it out together could happen every time.

Any chance if you know if this is just 360 or PC also, as some PC games also offer split screen when using the 360 controller. (left 4 dead did this and I loved doing splitscreen on my PC)

Yippie-Ka-Yay Mothertrucker!
Now I'm more excited about this game (actually this is my no. 1 game I'm waiting to come out this year )

This game is looking increasingly impressive. Let's hope it can survive the mass of Christmas releases this year.

not exactly... if you browse the forums at www.borderlandsthegame.com there are a few topics about this. it sounds like the terrain will be static but placement of objects will change. so you travel the same path from point A to point B but you might run into different enemies, bunkers, vehicles, and i think vegetation (trees, bushes). there seems to be a lot of speculation going on in those forums though so i wouldn't take that as a definite answer.

this is probably the best announcement i've heard from E3 . only problem is this is most likely going to be released right around halo 3 ODST. hmmm

I'll have to buy this, and ODST.

This is a must buy for me now .

Must buy, BUT it needs to not have truncated split screen like ODST had (At least on an HDTV).

Even if it does it will still rule.

Definitely a must-buy for me, now. At the moment, I have no one to play split-screen with (older brothers are stubborn). . . But hopefully, my room-mates up in Canada would love to play, once I make the move up there. So this is a huge plus for me.

This just keeps getting better and better. And yet the days keep moving by slower and slower until October 20th. . .

Has there been any word or response about online Spilt-screen?

I don't care, since I have no local co-op buddies

But I know plenty of friends that would like to know.

Yes, accuracy is very important. Normally I don't like weapons that have such low accuracy. I use only Double Anarchy when up cl
