Co-op Intact In Perfect Dark For XBLA

Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski June 8th, 2009 at 6:35 PM

Sometimes the words "digitally remastered" is like music to our ears, especially in the case of our Nintendo 64 classics! This time, we've got the original Perfect Dark on the Xbox LIVE Arcade, thanks to Rare and Microsofts team up. Perfect Dark has an updated, smoothed out frame rate, as well as being rendered in high definition. Joanna Dark would be proud, as long as it's not all just another one of those galactic conspiricies.

We were happy to hear that Co-op will be intact, with local split screen confirmed, as well as a mention of "Online Multiplayer". They've promised all of the original features of the game are included, as well as a few updated ones for Xbox LIVE. If you haven't picked up the free promotional Xbox theme, why wait?

The release has been narrowed down to "Winter 2009", so keep an empty spot on your holiday gift list!

I missed out on this one back in the day. I tried Perfect Dark Zero, but it wasn't so great! I'll keep this one on the radar.

Smoothed out frame rate? Well count me in then.

The original was much better! I look forward to the improvements on a classic here.

This may very well warrant a purchase, of course not this year. But maybe later.

You can basically unlock "skins" for your co-op buddy (first player stays as Joanna), initial choice is Joanna's sister (which I think everyone forgot in the prequel), then you unlock others by actions beating a level with Gold stars or something like that.

One of my favorite modes is in this game and I have yet to see it anywhere else...

Counter-Op, first player is Joanna and the second player spawns (and respawns) as the enemies placed in the level. So one could try to block the other player's route. Or camp key locations.

Not to mention the bots in Multiplayer were fun.

My only gripes were that the story was released and there were no surprises even when you were suppose to be shocked. Happens a few times.

So I would suggest not reading the story before you play.

My other issue was that Rare went overboard with lights cause they were using the Hi-res card for the N64 and liked to blind players.

Very interested to know what changes have occurred.

This is one of my favorite games of all time. Fixing the frame rate and bumping up the output resolution is an awesome addition to an already very fun game.
