See Borderlands Gameplay In Developer Interview

News
Twitter facebook googlebuzz

The more we hear about Borderlands, the more we want it. This time, we get a peak into the gameplay! Games.on.Net interviewed Gearbox about many elements of the game, while showing some very interesting gameplay footage at the same time.

To quote the opening animation:

"You won't last long here, not without help."

Gearbox talks about the 4 player co-op in game, including different class "trees" that will help one another out really well. They're as excited about online and offline co-op as we are, especially the part where your character goes wherever you go. Level building offline? No problem. Bring your local 2 player co-op session online with 2 online friends? Go for it! Borderlands is shaping up to be the most anticipated co-op game this year, check it out!

Massive amounts of in-game footage! I was a bit skeptical, but after seeing how well they pulled off the gameplay mechanics, there's not a doubt in my mind this game will be awesome.

This actually seems like what Hellgate London (which had sooo much potential, but fell short) should have been - at least in terms of gameplay and not graphics.

Speaking of the graphics, though, I'm impressed! The animations are pretty detailed, and everything appears on the screen vibrantly!

Now, I just need to figure out which system... PC or console...

That first video was the announcement video release a long time ago, years before the art change this Spring.

So that may still change with the art style.

I guess they're undecided then - this interview did mention split-screen with online co-op.

I really hope this game doesnt get pushed back like bioshock did. However It has a lot to gain from extended development time. Looking great, I just need to find 2 other friends to get invested in this!

This game looks seriously sweet! I really do hope that they can tie in split-screen with online, but that won't be a main selling point for me. For me to buy this it needs some serious play time or replayability (besides being fun) because a short game won't be worth it. So far it seems as though it will deliver.

Did he say the default character class was named Roland?! I listened to it twice and couldn't quite tell. If so, cool!

And your quote isn't quite accurate, there should be "...and guns" at the end of it

They want to make multiplayer as good as possible. Randy Pitchford said that they want to include split-screen online, but if it won't work, then later a patch may came out to fix it

@roland
I thought he said brawler but.. I'm not sure.

Anyway.. I really hope that this game will be as awesome as it seems to be.

Well if they do get local splitscreen to work with online on launch this will be my biggest game .

So there's no online split screen at launch? I'm not to concerned as long as there is still offline split screen. The game looks fantastic. Much better then I thought it would after seeing the screen shots.

Did anyone see those green damage numbers coming out? I thought it a weird mix of funny, stupid, and awesome.

that's definitely something they borrowed from the RPG genre... personally i think its pretty cool. you can see exactly how much damage your doing and will help you know which guns to use and where to aim.
