Borderlands Coming to Steam with Exclusive Features

News
Twitter facebook googlebuzz

Gearbox has officially announced that Borderlands will make its way to PC digital distribution platform Steam when the game is released on October 26th.  Along with that they've announced a few unique features for the PC version of the game.

With however many millions of weapons the game is up to, the one feature that will be a crowd pleaser is the ability to export JPG Cards of your weapons to show off to your friends.  The PC version will also have built in benchmarking tools, and finally, a custom interface designed for the mouse and keyboard.  Yup, there's no console inventory management here folks!

Of course we already heard the PC version is going to look the best, and now with exclusive features it'll make it a tough choice between it and the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version.  Of course for co-op players it should be all about communication, and it's unclear as to whether or not the game has built in voice chat to aid in that.

well the obvious choice for most couples is whatever console they own... so all you single guys/gals should get it for consoles so we have more people to play with

That's kind of an odd statement from smurph... anyways, if I had the PC to handle it I would totally get it for PC, but my PC has been 'lacking' for a couple years now. Gonna have to go with the 360 version. I'm glad none of the extra features for PC really matter much.

i was just joking... which system you pick is obviously your choice.

I'll be grabbing the steam version for the better looking graphics Mouse and keyboard support most of my friends play on PC.

I'll likely also grab it on 360 however, so that I can play w/ everyone from CoG Co-optimus.

The voice chat would make it or break it for me. But since I know people from here that will be purchasing it on the 360, compared to people on my Steam list going, "Ehhhhh, I prefer L4D2.", I think my choice is still going to be XBox 360. Having people to play with far outweighs JPG cards, better graphics, and a bit smoother control, I think.

One of them told me, "I hate level up RPGs", and preferred how Fallout 3 did it (though I would call that a "level up RPG" too). I'm assuming that applies to a few of the other friends as well, but I haven't asked them.

I totally agree, though. How you can want one but not the other, when they both look so well done and have so much to offer, is just confusing.

If you are looking for PC users for borderlands, there are quite a few of us from the CoG network. Just gotta add your steam account to the steam groups for both co-optimus and Colony of gamers.

As for voice chat, since I'll be playing with friends anyways voice chat isn't too important as ventrilo / skype / steam voice chat are all available to me.

ugh, i'd be surprised & disappointed if the game has no in game chat. I'm actually finding it very very hard to believe that this game would not have voice chat. I mean, seeing how it seems to be so well done and and everything... it'd certainly take away from my gameplay A LOT [

"Gearbox has officially announced that Borderlands will make its way to PC digital distribution platform Steam when the game is released on October 30th."

Just wondering, wasn't the game delayed from oct. 20th to oct. 26th ?

Just double checked, you are correct.

What? Exclusive to Steam, or exlusive to PC? Steam is not the only way to purchase Borderlands for PC.

Ahh, checking the linked article, it says that its coming to Steam, and the PC version will have exclusive features.

The title of your article was a bit misleading.
