Rumor: New Ghost Recon Game Rated in Australia

Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin October 23rd, 2009 at 10:48 AM

The rumor started with Ubisoft's financial earnings, citing a new Ghost Recon game to be released before March 2010, specifically Ghost Recon 4. Now, the Australian ratings board has a listing for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Predator, which many are presuming to be the fabled Ghost Recon 4.

To me, the title sounds like a portable title. Resistance: Retribution...Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow...Killzone: Liberation...you see the pattern. However, the listing clearly states that the game is rated for mature audiences, and has a "CG (Multi Platform)" classification.

I'm personally looking forward to continuations of the Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six series, both of which have been co-op friendly this generation. Let's hope this rumor rings true.

i've always liked these games but co-op and split screen needs a little polish. i haven't played all of them but the ones i have, you don't get achievements in co-op and you miss out on the "campaign" feel of it. instead you just play each mission in order. part of it might be that my wife didn't like the GR games because she was still pretty new to FPS's at the time.

I am hoping to see a Ghost Recon game that gets back to the roots of the game, I always loved the ones on the PC.

I'm with you, Bubblee. I want another Rainbow Six even worse. But anything "Tom Clancy" excites me a bit, because the last few titles have been very solid, if a little mediocre.

I want another Rainbow Six akin to the first game in the series.

Planning loadouts and waypoints was way awesome.

yeah that was fun... not very co-op friendly though. that's why i kind of liked GR because you kind of set your waypoints and controlled the AI as you went.

I don't know, I think a co-op virtual "war room" would be pretty fun. Perhaps I'm a horrible person.

not at all... it would just have to take the right group of players to do all that together. most people just want to jump in the game right away and those people will get annoyed by others who want to plan out their attacks.

Yeah, the PS3 Home Warhawk "War Room" is hardly ever used, as I understand it. Even though I think the idea is brilliant.

That was so much fun to do in the first game. Could be an issue with random people but if you are playing with like minded friends it would be freaking awesome.

Who in their right mind would play a hardcore tactical game with randoms? It would be perfect for local co-op/LAN play.

Some of us are good enough to make up for sour randoms. You know, those of us who take our time to aim down the sights.

Probably not just rumour anymore. The last three games I saw whose initial rumours of existing were the OFLC turned out to be real. I should check up on OFLC regulations... there must be a reason these games are turning up on OFLC before anywhere else.
