Rumor Partially Solved - Halo 3 Recon Announced

The fabled Halo 3 "expansion" has now been announced as Halo 3 Recon, a complete standalone prologue campaign featuring ODST Marines. So far, no details have been provided, other than that the game will be available for retail in Fall 2009.

As Nick "bapenguin" mentioned in the latest Co-opticast, Bungie has a special place in their heart for cooperative gameplay. They do not disappoint with confirmed 4 player co-op for the upcoming title.

Consider the Halo 3 racing game ("Halo Kart") rumor debunked, and we'll be sure to splash a new post when the official fact sheet comes down.

Yeah, that's not the only thing on loan from Ghost Recon. Let's hope they ripped off the 16-player co-op too.

I read last night on my Blackberry after posting this that it's confirmed to have 4-player co-op, stats, and video/screenshot capture. This is according to a Joystiq live blog.

I got the feeling that the city, or the AI that runs it, will be a primary character in the game.

I can haz Recon? Sorry, had to pick the low hanging fruit. I can't wait to see more on this. Looks a lot like the live action shorts they put out last year.
