Our Weekend In Gaming: 16X

What could possibly be better than playing a nice, lengthy session of a classic 4X strategy game?  Easy - playing two at the same time!  Our very own Nick Puleo will attempt this very weekend to conquer two entirely separate universes and, in doing so, create the mythical 16X.  Anyone can handle the four standard X's: eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate, but how will Nick cope with these added dimensions, like eXtreme handstands, The EXorcist 2, eXtra cheese, and eXploding finger guns?  Only time will tell.

Don't Stop the Geekin'

I've been a contributor at Co-Optimus since 2008. I can hardly believe it's been that long! Through the years, I wrote dozens of reviews and features, as well as hundreds of news articles. Being a part of Co-Optimus awakened a passion for writing in me, and I took that to the next step last year when I wrote my first book, I Was Geeky When Geeky Wasn't Cool. Now, my second book is available!

Cooperative Play Headed to Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley has become quite the popular farm-sim game over the past few months. The title had a lot of positive buzz around it before it even launched, and that sentiment has only grown after its release. In a blog post this past weekend, Eric Barone, the one-man development team who goes under the alias ConcernedApe, stated that cooperative multiplayer would be coming to the title.

Co-Op Monthly Round-Up for April, 2016

To much rejoicing, Dark Souls 3 came out last month. That means it was a month focused on the dark and gritty series with plenty of discussion as to its merits of cooperative implementation. It was a pretty quiet month otherwise, but still you may have missed some of the news of upcoming games. May is looking strong with Battleborn kicking off the month.

Upgraded PlayStation 4 Could Support More Local Players

The next iteration of the PlayStation 4, which was speculated about after GDC, is all but confirmed at this point. Giant Bomb received information from a variety of sources earlier this week that the new console, currently codenamed "NEO," will not only offer some hardware upgrades to allow games access to higher graphical fidelity, but that it could also change the way local co-op works.

How VR Could Change Co-Op Gaming Forever

Virtual Reality (VR) are two words which are about to have a huge impact in the world of co-op gaming. Tech industry leaders like Facebook, Samsung and Sony are currently tripping over themselves in the rush to become VR global leaders and seize the sizeable market. You may already have tried out a beta version of VR but the latest technology is literally going to transport you to a different world. Devices are as simple as headphones and a visor but the experiences the technology can now produce are astounding.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Prepare To Cry Edition

Well, gang, it's that time of week again.  It's a time filled with potential, hope, and as little work as humanly possible.  Unfortunately, this weekend will also be filled with plenty of cursing and gnashing of teeth, as Dark Souls 3 has just hit the market.  Between all the praising and whatnot, I suspect that the next couple days will play host to countless deaths of both the deserved and undeserved variety.
