Save some cash while you shred!
Quite an impressive deal comes to us via Amazon.com today. After just over a month in release, Guitar Hero 5 is on sale for 50% off. The deal unfortunately only applies to the Xbox 360 version (sorry Wii and PS3 rockers). We found the game impressive and gave it a very good review. Don't forget that the Guitar Hero World Tour DLC that's on sale this week is compatible with Guitar Hero 5 as well. If you're a music game fan, and haven't picked this title up yet, now's the time to nab it!

"Guitar Hero 5 has Johnny Cash in it!" "No." "It lets more than one person play the same instrument!" "No." "I get Guitar Hero Van Halen for free with it!" "Nope." "It lets you play as your Avatar..." "Really?"
And thus, Guitar Hero 5 was brought into our home.

With another week comes another deal for Xbox Live Gold members. This week's offering is for music game fans, offering a few Guitar Hero World Tour tracks at a 25% discount. Pick them up at just 120 points for some head banging goodness.
Don't forget that Guitar Hero World Tour DLC is totally compatible with Guitar Hero 5. Unfortunately, the reverse is not true. Due to the added features in Guitar Hero 5 (like Band Moments, vocal Star Power, etc.) any DLC for Guitar Hero 5 won't work in World Tour. Unsurprising, but still disappointing. Especially when the competition does it right... well, mostly.

Just when we thought the Guitar Hero franchise might actually be headed in the right direction, Bobby Kotick has to go and ruin it. The oft-despised, Machiavellian Activision CEO offered some hints as to his plans to, in essence, ruin Guitar Hero specifically, and video games in general, eventually.

"All right you two, I want a good clean fight, nothing below the belt. That means you, Bobby. We've moved past twitter and now we're gonna settle it out in the open. Courtney didn't know about Kurt Cobain appearing in Guitar Hero 5. Bobby's representing Activision in this little bruhaha. Here we go..."

Guitar Hero 5 hits the shelves and the fall rush begins. What's new this time around? Is this just more of the same from Activision? Does Guitar Hero 5 redeem the franchise, from a co-op perspective? Find out in our review!

Guitar Hero 5 hit the streets yesterday, and now we now a bit more about the game. We were specifically curious about the import features. Rock Band 2 supported the import of the Rock Band disc songs last year. We loved this feature, and when it was announced that it was finally being added to Guitar Hero, we were quite pleased. Last night, I was unable to contact the servers to try the import, but USA Today has the info. Edit: Updated information below.

It's barely September, and the fist major game release of the fall rush is here! Guitar Hero 5 hits store shelves today, and is available for pretty much every console. Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PS2 gamers can rock out to the new and improved game engine today. I'm eagerly anticipating this one, and it's scheduled for delivery today; look for our review later this week.
Also don't forget that if you snag the game this month, you'll get Guitar Hero Van Halen for free. Don't forget you can purchase Guitar Hero 5 at Amazon and help support Co-Optimus!
Nevermind the fact that Kurt Cobain has been dead over 15 years, Nirvana's music still lives on today, and the front man is back in virtual form in Guitar Hero 5. Activision has announced that his likeness has been licensed for the game, along with two Nirvana songs; Smells like Teen Spirit and a never before live version of Lithium.
The previous rumor has now been verified, and with the game coming out tomorrow, you can bet there won't be anymore surprises.

MUSE lead singer Matt Bellamy has lend his likeness to Guitar Hero 5, Activision announced today. The always entertaining Bellamy talks about being digitized in the game during the latest promo video. After donning the spandex and glowy balls, he imagined himself playing the song Plug-in Baby in some of the bands biggest performances. The song is featured on the GH5 soundtrack, and is one of my personal favorite songs of the band.
Seriously, if you haven't seen there concert DVD HAARP, do yourself a favor and pick it up. The entire band has an amazing stage presence, and the video really seems to capture some of Bellamy's antics. He even recommends jumping around and spinning in your living room for the full effect.
