Left 4 Dead NES MakeoverNovember 17th, 2009 at 4:58 PM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

Bill, Frances, Louis and Zoey have received a full retro-NES makeover, and we like it. Eric Ruth and PixelForce NES are responsible for this amazing "de-make" of Left 4 Dead. So far there is a full trailer out for the game, but by January 2010 Eric Ruth expects to have a full release of the pixelized Left 4 Dead on PC. If Left 4 Dead had been around in the 80's, this is what it would look like.

"It features all the campaigns from the original game, including 8-bit incarnations of the special infected, for two players to play through -- it is a NES game after all, fancy four-player wasn't standard."

Co-Op Casual Friday: The Forbidden FruitOctober 30th, 2009 at 7:12 PM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Is Dad killing zombies or minotaurs in there?
Sounds fun.

If you have children, and are a gamer, you have probably run into some awkward situations.  There are some games that are perfectly acceptable for adults, and yet wildly inappropriate for children.  Some parents may disagree, and buy Grand Theft Auto for their first grader, but for most of us, there's a line between what's a "me" game, and what's a "kid" game.  This line varies from gamer family to gamer family, of course, and by child, as well.  For my youngest, who is eight, we have a higher tolerance of sci-fi violence (such as that in Halo's campaigns) than we do human on human violence (Call of Duty comes to mind).  Excessive realistic gore is a no-no (Left 4 Dead), but heavily stylized cartoon blood (Castle Crashers) is acceptable.  For our older son, fifteen, all the above games are probably OK, but I'd draw the line at games with strong sexual content or excessive language.  The point is, there are going to be some games on the shelf that your kids are not allowed to play.

Left 4 Dead Crash Course DLC is out, Priced Incorrectly, Achievements RevealedSeptember 29th, 2009 at 7:45 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Left 4 Dead's first co-op campaign addition has been released today, about six weeks before the game's first sequel is set to be released.  Titled Crash Course, the DLC is a four player co-op campaign and versus mode all rolled into one.  It takes place between the Mercy Hospital mission and Death Toll as the survivors helicopter crashes after rescue.

PC owners, all you need to do is fire up Steam and you'll be updated and have the latest content.   Xbox 360 owners on the other hand are going to have to pony up some hard earned Microsoft Points for this - though you might want to wait.  Why?  As of now the price is incorrect.

Update:  The price has been corrected.

Left 4 Dead Mod Lets you Kill TeletubbiesSeptember 22nd, 2009 at 8:39 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

You know those really annoying kid show characters, The Teletubbies?  They're these brightly colored, billowing, and loud creatures that squeal and talk like a bunch of cracked out unicorns.  And they need to die.

Now you can do that thanks to the latest Left 4 Dead PC mod called Teletubbies 4 Dead.  I think the video says it all.  Four player co-op Teletubby slaughtering.  Ahhhhh...yeah.

Left 4 Dead Crash Course Coming Before Sep. 23?September 14th, 2009 at 11:18 PM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Sure, we're excited about clown zombies in Left 4 Dead 2.  But what's a zombie killing fan supposed to do until November?  Play the upcoming "Crash Course" DLC for the original Left 4 Dead, that's what!

Previously, we'd heard only that the DLC would be released in September, but, thanks to a "Game with Fame" at Xbox.com, we now know that Crash Course is likely coming before the 23rd.  That's the date when the band Paramour will be playing Left 4 Dead with the rest of us anonymous zombie hunters.  The price for Crash Course is $7 for Xbox 360, and free for PC users.  I know I'll be picking this up upon release, which is looking like next week at the moment.

Left 4 Dead DLC Should have been out Before E3August 24th, 2009 at 8:37 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

It's a case of timing is everything.  If only the Left 4 Dead DLC was announced and released before E3 this year, the Left 4 Dead 2 announcement wouldn't have been met with such resistance, at least, that's what Valve thinks.

"I think in this case we just didn't message correctly, we didn't make it clear that Left 4 Dead was still going to be updated. We just didn't think to mention it, we were focusing on other stuff."

It's a Beautiful, Left 4 Dead WorldAugust 20th, 2009 at 8:12 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Left 4 Dead 2 might be on the horizon, but a new fan made video has told us the original still has a lot to offer.  Set to Louis Armstrong's A Wonderful World, the video showcases the more beautiful side of Valve's co-op zombie shooter.  Rainbows of boomer vomit never evoked such emotion.

This Week In Co-Op: Left 4 Dead...AgainJuly 22nd, 2009 at 4:57 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Left 4 Dead was covered in January by Blake "broodax" Corner, a previous staff member and current student with over 100 news posts to his credit. Seven months later, Co-Optimus is still rockin' Left 4 Dead as a solid and fun co-op title. Monday night, I took my younger brother for a spin through the No Mercy campaign for some Achievements and bloody survival mayhem.
