Alienware Updates M17x, Adds M15x to lineupSeptember 27th, 2009 at 1:55 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Alienware was busy at the Tokyo Game show this week, announcing a new mobile version of their M17x gaming laptop called the M15x.  The 15" model sports many of the same features as its bigger brother, sacrificing a second video card, some ports, and screen size.  That's not to say it can't hold its own, as the laptop is the first one to support Intel's new Core i7 processor.  The laptop starts at a $1499 price tag.

The M17x laptop has also been updated to with a new configuration that supports AMDs new Mobility Radeon 4870.  Currently benchmarked as the fasted mobile videocard on the market, it's a new option when ordering your M17x.  Both these laptops are sure to garner you some attention at your next co-op LAN party!

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel and LightFX Causing Alienware M17x IssuesJuly 19th, 2009 at 2:36 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

A little known feature of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel on the PC is the ability to integrate with Dell's LightFX keyboard lighting system.  The LightFX system backlit Dell's now defunct XPS laptop line with numerous colors, while the LightFX SDK allowed developers to control these based on what was happening in the game.

Now that Alienware is fully integrated into Dell, the latest Alienware M17x laptop from Dell also supports their LightFX system.  The problem with Sacred 2, is the game doesn't appear to be working properly with the keyboard lighting system, and there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it in the game.

A few months ago we told you about a brand new laptop from Dell and Alienware that would make your friends jealous.  The inner geek and hardware addict in me couldn't withstand it, and I decided to bite the bullet and order one.  I figured it would be a great opportunity for the site to review the product and expand our co-op territory a bit.

Sadly that was 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting.

New Alienware Laptop will Make Your Co-Op Partner JealousMay 29th, 2009 at 9:01 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

A lot of co-op PC gaming is not only done online, but at LAN parties.  If you've never experienced one of these Mountain Dew laden events, well do yourself a favor and find a local one.  Of course it's not easy lugging your desktop PC across down for a little multiplayer gaming, so the best thing to do is find yourself a slick gaming laptop.

Enter Alienware's upcoming M17x laptop.  This laptop falls just short of NASA computing power with a Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 Gig of Ram, and Dual Nvidia GT260's with one gig of VRAM each.  Yes my friends, this computer is so fast you'll actually be killing zombies before they appear in Left 4 Dead.  With speeds so fast, your Space Marine squad will arrive on Typhon before the Tyrinaid fleet and erradicate them with your visual fidelity.  And the techno rave inducing lighting system is an added bonus for those spur of the moment LAN dance parties.  Hey... the caffeine can go to your head.

So...how big of a mortgage will this laptop cost?  How about a starting price of $1799.
