Assuring us that development is "on schedule", senior producer Mark Rogers has announced that the original November 12th release date for SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo 3 has been shoved back to January 12th, 2010.

After our PAX hands-on and GameSpot's recent preview video, we're definitely looking forward to checking this title out. Fireteam Bravo 3 brings four-player local and online co-op to the PlayStation Portable, and not soon enough!

SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 Infiltrates on November 24thSeptember 17th, 2009 at 11:44 AM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

We got our hands on SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo 3 at PAX, confirming 4-player co-op both online and locally (ad hoc) and thoroughly enjoying our limited time with the title. We did not have a release date, however.

Sony has now announced official pre-order details and a release date of November 24th. For those who like to reserve your game copy ahead of time, Sony and Slant Six have set aside two weapons and two soldier outfits just for you; these unlocks will be available for use in multiplayer modes.

Rumor: SOCOM 4 and Syphon Filter 5 in DevelopmentJuly 08th, 2009 at 2:04 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

A rumor is rocking the internet right now, one that is not altogether surprising, but sure enough interesting: according to digital creation studio PCB Productions' credits page, SOCOM 4 is in production by Zipper Interactive, and Syphon Filter 5 by Sony Bend.

Both series are known to have dabbled in co-op, and very successfully at that. SOCOM: Combined Assault featured a full campaign playable with four players online and via LAN, as well as instant action modes. The upcoming PSP title SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 is expected to provide similar co-op action.

New SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 Screenshots and TrailerJune 05th, 2009 at 11:05 AM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

PSP Go announcement aside, the PSP is really getting some love this year! We're expecting to play a lot of great games before summer 2010, and a good chunk of them feature co-op, both via ad hoc (local) and infrastructure (wi-fi internet).

SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 puts tactical shooter fans back into a four-man squad with their friends for the first time on PSP, and only the second for the entire series (co-op should have been a no-brainer since 2003, but hey: it's progress).

Check out the new trailer below, and the new gallery beyond that. Prepare to kill some terrorist fools this holiday season.

Full Co-Op Campaign Confirmed for SOCOM - Hand Signals Not NeededMay 28th, 2009 at 5:58 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

...which is good, since you'll have both hands wrapped around your PSP. Sony has confirmed today that SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 will feature 70 weapons with 5 attachment slots each, all of them useable in the nine-mission single-player campaign and the extensive multiplayer mode.

What? Oh, you were expecting co-op news? Well, try this on for size...

The game will also feature four-player co-op throughout the single-player campaign via ad hoc and infrastructure (wi-fi online). When one mission gets stale, the host can choose to change up the objectives and enemy placement to keep things fresh. Furthermore, those 70 customizable weapons are available in co-op, and spectators are allowed if the host so chooses. To top it all off, drop-in/drop-out is supported.

Obviously, this game just showed up on our SONAR as a major active ping. This may very well be the most co-op friendly PSP game to date. IGN has a nice co-op preview, which we expect any self-respecting PSP owner to read.

SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 Screenshots Infiltrate Co-OptimusApril 29th, 2009 at 2:59 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

New screenshots for the freshly-announced PSP title SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 have deployed at Joystiq and moved to waypoint Co-Optimus in a great display of tactical co-op action.

This morning, I let my Twitter followers know how I felt about the PSP's outlook this year; SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 joins at least half a dozen AAA titles and a rumored upgrade for the near-deserted Sony handheld, all of which have me hopefuly for a ressurection of sorts.
