The Viking-like Snowmads have invaded the lush, jungle paradise of Donkey Kong Island and placed a permanent freeze on the landscape. It's up to you, as well as a co-op buddy, to rid the island of the evil-doers and return it to its natural state in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
We're less than a month away from the latest flagship title on the Nintendo Wii U, and local co-op will be the name of the game here. Up to two players can assume the characters of: the fearless leader, Donkey Kong, the trusty sidekick, Diddy Kong, the much loved Dixie Kong, and the unexpected Cranky Kong through 6 worlds of frozen awesome.
From my hands-on experience with the game, I am most excited to try out all the combinations of Kong abilities together to see which is the overall best. I didn't get the opportunity to try out Dixie at the time, and Cranky wasn't even remotely rumored to appear then either. I was impressed, however, with Donkey's and Diddy's classic team-up combos: Diddy could ride on Donkey Kong's back and use his jetback to boost the team to new heights, or he could roll around on Donkey like a giant primate bowling ball. Dixie is able to hover around using her hair as a propeller, while Cranky can bounce around on his cane like Scrooge McDuck does in CAPCOM's DuckTales.
With all the winter goodness going on, this month will be the perfect time to release Tropical Freeze on Wii U. I'll be doing our co-op review of the game shortly after February 21st, when it's available in retail. Please keep an eye out for it!
