After the success of Katamari Damacy on PlayStation 2, Bandai Namco needed something special to differentiate the sequel. They landed on co-op, and thus, We Love Katamari was born. Seeing as how 2020's Katamari Damacy Reroll successfully brought the first game to modern platforms, it's only fitting that We Love Katamari Reroll Plus Royal Reverie will now do the same for the second game. The new remake will roll onto Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam this June, complete with 2-player local co-op.
How does co-op work in We Love Katamari? Rather than controlling two different Katamari balls, two players roll the same ball together. This involves some intense coordination and leads to lots of silly situations. The goal is generally to roll up as many objects, people, and animals as possible in order to make a gigantic Katamari ball. Two members of the interstellar royal family working together should lead to gigantic fun.
We Love Katamari Reroll Plus Royal Reverie features:
- Five New Challenges Starring a Young King of All Cosmos – Enjoy all-new challenges and collectibles inspired by the first interlude movie of the main game that shows the King as a child.
- Take Pictures of Your Adventure in Selfie Mode – Use your selfie stick to take photos and have fun decorating them! Selfie mode comes with a photo rally feature where you can take pictures and collect stickers of Namco characters placed on objects throughout all stages. Filling your photo rally sheet lets you unlock new frames and filters.
- Play as Long as You Want with No Limitations – This remaster comes with an Eternal Mode for those that want to play with no time limit. Keep it rolling… for as long as you want!
- Quality of Life Improvements and More – Players can now favorite their favorite musical tracks and select from a list of tracks for playback when they play levels, better locate target objects with navigational indicators that help find barricades and goal objects, easily find stages they want to play with the “Find a Fan” shortcut, and enjoy this HD remaster on a wider pool of gaming platforms.
The original We Love Katamari was only released on PlayStation 2. We Love Katamari Reroll Plus Royal Reverie will bring the series to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam, so everybody can roll in style! The remake will arrive on June 2 this year.
