If you head over to the Minecraft Marketplace, you will find some of our favorite lessons from Minecraft: Education Edition in a brand new Education category. These educational worlds can be played on your own, with your kids, parents or friends. From the comfort of your home, you can tour the International Space Station or even explore the inside of a human eye. We’ve also included ten worlds from our Marketplace creator community! Thanks to creators Everbloom, Jigarbov, Lifeboat, Razzleberries, The World Foundry, Blockworks, and Imagiverse you can explore renewable energy, marine biology, Greek history, and more! The worlds include lesson plans like creative writing activities, build challenges, and tricky puzzles.

PlayStation 4 Version of Minecraft Now Supports Cross-Platform Play

There is a long history here for why Sony was the last hold out with this, but all that needs to be said is that it doesn't matter now and you can go play Minecraft with your friends regardless of their preferred platform; just as you and so many others have been asking for so long. This update also comes on the heels of the new version of "Minecraft Realms," now called "Minecraft Realms Plus." The "Realms" subscription service allowed you to create your own private server for you and your friends for a monthly fee. That (both the private server and the monthly fee) is still a part of "Realms Plus," but now you also get stuff from the Minecraft Marketplace for free, which I suppose is a better deal than before. Minecraft's New Character Creator Will Allow You To Be Your True Self

There's only one way to access the character creator as of right now, and that's by opting into the game's beta build on Windows 10, Xbox One, or Android. If you're interested in doing so, instructions can be found here. Once the beta concludes, though, the ability to customize your avatar will be available for all "Bedrock" versions of Minecraft.

Minecraft Package ‘The Traveling Trader’ Remains Free

If you haven’t grabbed the map and skins pack you can still do so for free on any of the platforms noted above. Unfortunately if you own Minecraft on one of Sony’s platforms (PS3, PS4 or PS Vita) the map is not available, as the Sony platforms were never provided with the Better Together update that helped to synchronize the different platform’s communities. You Can Now Play As Your Favorite FFXV Characters In Minecraft

Nevertheless, some interesting news on the game pops up every now and then. In this case, it's the fact that 43 of Final Fantasy XV's cast of characters have been transported into Minecraft's procedural realm. Assuming you're playing the Windows 10 edition, you can pick up the "Final Fantasy XV Skin Pack" for $3, which seems like a decent deal considering the amount of options it grants.

The Ender Update for the Windows 10 edition includes a lot of new content, like a dragon and a variety of items, as well as number of fixes. The update is free, but the "Festive Mash-Up" isn't. That will run you $3.99, but you'll get a new snowy world to explore and new skins, including a Krampus one.

Nintendo's Wii U has only had its version of Minecraft for a few months. The digital release happened last December, bundling a ton of skin packs with the belated download. Then in May the inevitable Super Mario texture pack was released, grabbing 40 Mario skins from Super Mario World, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine along with 15 tunes from Super Mario 64. And yeah, Peach, Luigi and Bowser were along for the ride, too.

[E3 2016] Friendly Update to Minecraft Allows for Cross-Platform Play

"Realms" are a new addition to the world of Minecraft and they are basically hosted worlds within Microsoft's cloud. From the menu, you can setup a new Realm by selecting the appropriate choice when creating a new world. You can specify how many users are allowed to join (either 2 or 10) and how long the Realm will be available (30 or 180 days). Once it's created, you can invite friends from the Windows 10 version, any supported mobile device, or even those that are lost in the madness that is virtual reality.

Wii U Finally Gets its Own Version of Minecraft

Microsoft is finally pushing Minecraft: Wii U Edition out the door, and it'll have a bunch of free skin packs in tow when it releases. More are promised in the future, which makes me giddy thinking about a Mario skin pack. C'mon, you know it'll happen. There's no official word on gamepad integration, but it's pretty easy to picture an inventory living on the small screen while you run around hitting trees on the large one. Even without taking advantage of the system's exclusive features, having Minecraft on a Nintendo console is a pretty exciting idea.

Flying Capes Will Soon Be Coming To Minecraft

The new face of Minecraft, Jens Bergensten, confirmed a few days ago that the cape will not be craftable by players. Instead, it must be discovered by way of adventuring. As per Mojang tradition, the exact steps needed to do so are currently a mystery. It'll be hitting the game in the 1.9 update, which has yet to be dated.
