"Aliens: Colonial Marines" Could be the Next "Left 4 Dead"

One of the most anticipated co-op titles next year is Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines.  With four player co-op play set in the traditional Aliens universe, it's easy to see how this could be the best thing since Left 4 Dead.   While we've had numerous Alien games before, none have offered co-op play and none have put players in the raw experience of an Aliens movie.  DailyGame.net explains it best:

I want to suspend my disbelief and encounter eggs and pretend as if I had no idea what they were and then have a facehugger jump out at me like what happened to Kane in the original Alien. Indeed, an A:CM teaser trailer showed us this moment, though astute residents of Gearbox's official forums concluded it was CGI, even it if was done in the game engine. CGI, in-engine, teaser or actual gameplay ... it's hinting that this game is headed in the right direction. But there's more than that.

Think about it,  none of the previous games attempted to bring fear into the equation.  Most were straight up action.  Gearbox has the opportunity to not only expand the universe, but reenvision it.  And there's no better way to experience that than with your friends!

I want to hear garbled instructions from a friend in online co-op and yell back over my headset: "All. At. Incinerators." I want to check those corners. I want to use more than harsh language. I want that sinking feeling from pings on my motion tracker and hear my squad mates argue about it.

Oh god the potential there.  Like I said earlier, the Aliens game could be the next Left 4 Dead, a game where co-op play is natural and essential, not just a feature.  We're keeping our fingers crossed that Gearbox can pull this off.  In the meantime, I'll be polishing off my Marine Pulse rifle

I have heard things about this game and I must say it will be a must buy if they pull off the suspense that the Aliens movie had.

What will be awesome is if someone has the motion tracker only to hear the familiar pinging getting louder and louder as the xenomorphs approach.

Heres hoping this game turns out .

Natural Selection always gave me that feeling of an aliens movie. I can't wait for NS 2, but this looks like it'll be a nice hold over.

Sweet, a four player Alien movie? I call Hudson!!

Hudson: Seventeen days? Hey man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen HOURS! Those things are gonna come in here just like they did before. And they're gonna come in here...
Ripley: Hudson...
Hudson: ...and they're gonna come in here AND THEY'RE GONNA GET US!
Ripley: Hudson!! This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training. [to Newt"> Right?
[Newt salutes">
Hudson: Why don't you put her in charge?

Man, I can't wait for that action!

Huh... I thought I read somewhere this game was dead. Thank God it's not! This has serious F.U.N. potential...

I'm very interested, but cautious. If this is gonna be a great Co-op title I may have to remove a game from my "Must Buy" List, which only has two game son it!

I was totally into Alien Vs. Predator when that came out for the PC, and there was a co-op campaign mode or mod which was kinda 'eh. The games bread and butter was co-op mode which allowed up to 6 or more ppl fight against a never ending wave of Aliens, but what I even liked more was the versus mode which allowed for Marines vs. Predators vs. Aliens it was quite awesome on LAN.

I am desperately hoping that this game will have an awesome Co-op experience. From the screens it looks pretty incredible, and a tacked on versus mode may be entertaining.

A few years ago, a neighbor offered my wife a Super Nintendo with five games, all for $25, before it went into their garage sale
Hopefully folks had fun. Got quite a few matches in, but I'm signing off for the night.
Arcade, Gears, Halo, Rainbow 6 vegas 2. Sounds good to me. Though Virtuoso and I have some IP issues. my tags are below.

You would think they would patch the USB port stuff.. Its just silly to have to unplug stuff that you usually just leave plugged
Yeah but I think it would still be cool!
