Crackdown 2 Officially Announced Finally Confirming Rumors

All it took was one sound, and the crowd went wild.  Visions of Agency tower climbs filled our heads, and then we heard a familiar voice.  The agent in all of us suddenly sprung to life as Microsoft announced what has long been rumored, Crackdown 2.  While no gameplay was shown, we did get a trailer.  It looks like Crackdown is going down a darker path as agents clean up the city from some sort of disease or infection.  Perhaps this big guy comes out of the sewer at the end?

The game is being developed by Ruffian Games, who are comprised mostly of Crackdown vets.  We don't know how many cooperative players the game will support, but it will support co-op.  For now, feast your eyes on the trailer and pray that 2010 comes very very soon.

This looks so much better and deeper than Crackdown, but here's hoping it's fun

Awesome! I still say that guy is the voice of the announcer from the Rogue Squadron games...

It looks weird...Ihope it has the same fun that the original did.

i'm sure it will have the same amazing sandbox elements as the first and hopefully some new stuff. the trailer seems to hint at more than 2 player co-op (here's hoping!) probably no split screen though so i'll be playing wife-less again

I just hope it relies less on player imagination and actually implements co-op functions, abilities...

I'm a lazy gamer, I do as I'm told. I don't see someone that invited me to play co-op and BLOW THEM UP!

I also, prefer a story with more depth than box description of a movie based on a book based on an obscure author's 20th century fantasy.

So here' hoping Crackdown 2 appeases me...I'm picky...

I don't want to fight monsters. That's what made Crackdown interesting, just roaming and fighting criminals. I want to see more on this before making a decision. I liked a lot of Crackdown but it did have its share of issues that I want to see addressed before I'd consider purchasing a sequel.

Well, they were pretty smooth by not actually showing any monsters. So that could change.

A problem for me was once I passed a certain skill range, nothing felt like an obstacle. I loved finding the orbs, but it's hard to make a egg hunting a fun full-time game experience.

My concern is how is this going back and touching on the Agency's plans and is this (Pacific City) the same one from the first game?

>>> SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE FIRST GAME <<<

well the trailer seems to hint at the doctor's experiments from the first game are being picked up by some new doctor (or maybe we had bad intel and killed the wrong guy?). so we could still be facing humans but with super powers more in-line with the agents. or maybe a bit uglier (like resident evil 2). obviously the crazy mutants from the first game were far from perfected but they were pretty strong and took a lot of lead to put down.

I just want some meaning to the co-op. Last time it was pretty annoying: two people would run at the badguys who ALWAYS knew where we were! It was maddening and quite annoying. If there are four people trying to do the same thing, I'm hoping they reduce the super-human deductive skills the AI had in the first game. And reduce their seemingly unerring accuracy too!

Other than that, hey it's all good.

I thought of them as mutants too. (in the trailer) I just HATED those stupid mutants in Crackdown. They always kicked me down...
